So disturbing on Apr 23, 2012 @ 02:26 pm
Thanks for posting that, vlicious! What's even more disturbing is that this is 'old news'. I have long suspected there is no incentive for pharmaceutical companies to get behind real cancer cures because Cancer is such a lucrative business for them. A lot of cancer charities are also for profit businesses, so only tiny portions of donations are actually going towards the cause. I think there is a lot of greed involved here.
unbelievable! on Apr 23, 2012 @ 02:52 pm
Oh definitely! It's so sad to think that survival of the fittest is no longer that! It's more survival of who has money! There are a ton of cancer treatment centers in the US that do wonders with the drugs they offer... but it'll cost you A LOT! How is is that those centers can treat someone or even cure them... they must have their hands on something note-worthy!
Pharmaceutical companies have no interest in cures, because like you said, they're making too much money off making these drugs! It makes no sense to them to invest in something that will put them under!
I did hear something annoying the other day that bothered me too! That cancer is just the natural way of clearing the world's population... since we're over populated, cancer is killing us off and well, we're just suppose to sit back and let that happen! Ridiculous!
What really upsets me is that governments don't step in to this and make it illegal for hospitals to except thousands of dollars in donations for research, when clearly, there's an answer right here! and that's my rant!
That's terrible on Apr 23, 2012 @ 03:31 pm
Whoever uses the argument of natural selection with respect to cancer is someone who clearly has not been touched by the devastating disease. I think it's a horrible, insensitive thing to say.
I completely agree the governments need to step in. But they took their sweet time with cigarettes, didn't they? There are a lot of agendas and a lot of lobbyists.
Not surprised on Apr 24, 2012 @ 08:29 pm
This is sad.
What's bad is that we don't hear about this on news... Just an article here and there...Shouldn't be on FRONT page or all the newspapers? Shouldn't we protest? Should the authorities investigate? Of course they won't! they all work together!
It's all a gimmick to make more money.
That's why i now try to use the least possible amount of medication possible. And try natural avenues. It's a reality that pharmaceutical companies don't have our well being at hear
just the tip of the iceberg on Apr 25, 2012 @ 08:41 pm
there are many alternative therapies out there, and as far as pharmaceutical drugs, this is just what they show. Its a shame we are the victims of the big pharma, we are being poisoned every day, by food, air, drugs... and let to die like dogs...
You guys must know... on Apr 29, 2012 @ 02:02 pm
...that this is fear mongering and total bullcrap, right?

I don't know, @fargiemargie13 I've seen stories about this on the news. And it's not a new story. Not that the news is always right but they certainly do their research before running something. Especially something of this magnitude.
I understand... on Apr 29, 2012 @ 03:23 pm
...that a news item is very interesting but you guys have to realize how scientific research works. It has nothing to do with Big Pharma.
Do you even know how complicated treating cancer is. There are a million types of cancers. The delivery of drugs is not as easy as you think. Spreading these types of news story is extremely dangerous. People are going to be trying this instead of going to a real doctor and may really hurt themselves.
You can read a little big about it on the wikipedia page.
I am a toxicologist and these types of things really frighten me. People taking things that are not regulated for very serious diseases that are much more complicated than you can imagine.
It's not big pharma, research like this is supposed to be covered by the government but our (canadian government) never spends any money on R&D;.
