Do you feel guilty for eating "junk food"?

With all the information that is available, and all the societal pressure to fit a certain mold, I'm curious: do you feel guilty for a junk food indulgence?

I'm not talking hitting McDonald's every day, but rather the occasional handful or 5 of Lay's BBQ, full-fat Ben & Jerry's, or even (gasp) a donut or bacon cheeseburger?

Personally, I say life is too short. I try to keep a balanced diet and limit my indulgences, but going the non-fat route is not my thing. Too often the "substitutes" are tasteless and/or loaded with artificial sweeteners. Non-fat yogurt is a particular pet peeve.

I'm probably going to get into trouble for this confession :) But will you also confess? What is your (secret) indulgence?

I just had a lemon-filled donut. Ha! And I'm not even posting anonymously.

I agree that life is too short. I don't feel bad about indulging here and there. To me, I would rather have a rich piece of cake one time then have a low fat substitute more often because I didn't get the fix from the one rich piece.

a big 'ole bag of chips! on Nov 12, 2009 @ 03:24 pm

The other day I had an intense craving for Miss Vicky's sea salt and vinegar chips. I ate the whole bag - and we're not talking kiddie size. That's something I rarely do so though I felt a wee bit bad about it, I knew I wasn't going to do it again that same week.

Everyone's metabolism is different so there is no one way to do it, but a few treats in moderation throughout the month don't affect me at all. My main meals are healthy and I don't over eat. That seems to work for me right now.

I love it...and not the kiddie sizes! Thanks to Chickadvisor I have a mini obsession with that Breyers Double Churn ice cream! I hide it in the back of the freezer from myself so I forget it is there sometimes! :oP

Occassionally I do... but all things in moderation. on Nov 12, 2009 @ 10:59 pm

I admit that I do love chocolate cake! Well really anything chocolate... especially dark chocolate ;) yummm!

I do sometimes feel a little guilty when I have my indulgences (that's just me personally), but I also do not think that there's any such thing as a "perfect" healthy eating. I think everything in moderation with variety is the key any balanced healthy diet.

Feel bad about eating huge portions on Jan 11, 2010 @ 10:28 am

I allow myself to indulge every once in a while. Junk food just tastes so good. I usually feel fine about it if I've made an effort to eat well throughout the day/week, and consider it a treat.

I hate the feeling of over-eating after a huge meal. Portions in restaurants are just too big, and most of the time you just want to finish the food that's on your plate. You don't think about the awful feeling of being stuffed who will feel afterwards. That's when I feel about over-eating :S

Good question cause lately now every time that I eat junk food I feel so guilty and regret eating whatever it is that I enjoyed minutes ago. Chocolates are my killers, sometimes I just have to have the Hershey bar, & I just love cheeseburgers, I have a very hard time not having those. Right now it's pretty hard specially since we're still living with my in-laws cause they eat a lot of junk, it's pretty bad. One thing that got me more into eating healthier though was a Tyra Bank show were they talked about how bad is junk food for us and they even showed a picture of this girl of Now and another one of herself After in a few more years later of how much junk food can affect the process of aging more quickly. I care about myself and how I look and definitely want to keep looking and feeling good about myself 5, 10 years later I hope.
