Lately, we've been talking a lot about cleanses, supplements and getting healthy. This weekend I was talking with a friend who recently completed a 10-day salt water cleanse.
She said she drank 5-8 glasses of salt water in the morning and it helped to flush her system. I'm super curious is any one else has heard of doing this?

That doesn't sound appetizing at all. Did you know that if you are ever shipwrecked and you drink ocean water, you will die? It's a pretty horrible death too. I saw this in a documentary. So that's the first thing that comes to mind when I read this. I'm sure it's not nearly the same level of salt in the water, but it does make me wonder if it is a good idea. Lauren do you have a link where you found this information?

I google'd and found the following on eHow
The bad outweighs the good in my books. How does your friend feel about the 10day cleanse? How was it for her? What benefits has she reaped?

I tried it while I was on the Master Cleanse last week, and I have never tasted something more disgusting in my life! It was horrible! However, a lot of people swear by it. It is supposed to clean your system within 2 hours max of drinking it... The challenge is to get it down however.

My friend said she would do the salt and the water separately - she did a shot of salt and then chugged a glass of water. She said that although the taste was awful (she gagged every time) the drink really flushed out her system.
Thanks for the link becky :)
I'm not sure of the exact program she was on, she was just mentioned it in a conversation at church because we were talking about sea water.

I have gargled with salt water to try to get rid of an early cold (which sort of works, by the way). I have never tasted anything so revolting. It would probably make me purge - but out the top end and no one needs that!
