Can anyone recommend products to stop hairloss? I'm not getting bald spots but I fear i might soon!! Especially after shower my hair falls out like CRAZY. As in thick collections of hair will come out as i run my fingers through it. I dont' brush my hair when wet because I know even more will come off if I do.
I am veeeerrrrryyyyyyyy anemic so i know that might be why....
Besides iron pills and iron injections both of which I'm taking, can anyone recommend a really GOOD multi vitamin/mineral supplement? One that you've tried and what sort of experience you've had with it?

hair loss in women can happen for one of two reasons: a hormone imbalance or a vitamin deficiency.I would try a multi-vitamin with minerals for a few weeks first.If that doesn't help then I would go to a doctor and get a blood test for hormone levels.For a multi-vitamin with minerals, I recommend CENTRUM or THERAGRAN-M.These two basicly provide every vitamin and mineral your body needs.If they don't wok,it is probably not a vitamin deficiency causing it.Alot of women have hairloss after pregnancy because of hormones.

thanks for the hormone tip!!! I'm definately not pregnant hehe :) but hey stress can cause hormonal imbalance too right?
can you please tell me which multi vitamin you took and how it worked for you? i'd really like a review of sorts :)
anyone else have any ideas? i'm getting desperate :( my one good thing is my hair ...... :'(

EXACTLY....most of the time when you have this situation, there isn't really a 'topical' solution...meaning you can't just use a serum/cream to fix. This is an internal metabolic issue. I strongly suggest that you go to your doctor and have them run some bloodwork on you...you may need your medication adjusted for anemia and a hormone imbalance may also be working against you.
Also, how's your diet? Nutrition is super important as well-do you take in a lot of caffeine? Do you drink enough water? How about protein? What kind of green vegetables do you eat?These are all factors you need to think about as well. Stress (as mentioned) can also play a role...
I know this all seems kind of general but hope it works...please see your doctor or a naturopath! I love my hair too so I know you are probably freakin' out but I am sure there are other 'good' things about you :)

yes,since u r anemic that is a reason for hair loss...check ur thyroid too....once u know the exact reason, u ve to correct the imbalance with medications/vitamins/diet etc.
also externally u can try and apply oil..masssage it and keep it for 1-2 hrs and then wash it off.

Do not take Centrum. All the pharmaceutical versions of multivitamins are a waste of money... they have no therapeutical prop. whatsoever. Do some research and find out more. Look for a natural source multivitamin and mineral in companies like PLatinum Sisu, Natural Factors, Genuine Health etc.... do research. check out alive.com for more ideas of both products and companies.
Make sure you get a good B-complex supplement, Omega3, zinc, and Silica.
Hubner`s Silicea gel or Flora`s Florasil can make a huge difference.
Also, external treatments can help a lot.... use base oils (such as olive, castor oil, coconut, sweet almond etc...) masks. You can play around with them, endless possibilities look it up online. Try to change your diet, take a close look at the hair products you are using... they might play a huge role in your hair loss

i'm also anemic but i have never had any hair loss before, but lately i feel like my hair is thinning really bad along my bangs. I've been really stressed out with work and home lately so I thought it might be from that but now I am starting to worry about my health. I've been drinking a lot of coffee lately and haven't been sleeping properly.
What are your eating habits lately? Do you have an exercise routine? Maybe we just need to relax and workout more ;)

Misslissa - very good point!! I drink a ton of coffee, my eating habits are really unhealthy (no solid food just coffee throughout the day and a moderate dinner) and i don't drink nearly enough water... oh and my only form of extercise is i walk 1hr a day (i walk home from work because i love walking and no other reason). I know how unhealthy i am...i am completely aware ... i will get myself in order, some day ...hopefully soon.

if you want ideas for topical aplications, and masks.... try stinging nettle tincture, rub into scalp and let dry; switch your shampoos (sls has been linked to hair loss), rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar(a spoon mixed in a bowl of warm water). Essential oils, such as rosemary can help as well, you can mix it in base oils( such as olive, sweet almond, castor, coconut etc...) warm it up and use it as a hot oil pack, you can even leave it overnight.
My favourite hair mask is : a ripe avocado (mushed) 2 egg yolks a mix of olive, castor, sweet almond and wheat germ oil a few drops rosemary ess oil. Rub well into scalp, hair, cover, leave on overnight, do it once a week.

Cool idea ra143! But wouldn't that hair mask stink something awful in the morning? The egg yolks in particular... Does the scent completely rinse out, or is that why you use the rosemary oil - to mask whatever smell remains?

Funny, I'm having this same issue. A lot of hair comes out in the
shower and I see thinning on the sides near my bangs. Even my
colourist noticed it. I just assume it's stress related. I'm glad
there are so many tips here to help!
