This can really freak a person out. Does it feel like a butterfly in your chest or when it misses a beat it feels like it forces air out of your body?
In the last few years this has been happening on a regular basis. I got it checked out and they said it was an irregular heartbeat, but that it wasn't the kind they were worried about. I had to fight to get anyone to do some tests in the first place because they said "You're a female in her 20's. You're too young for anything to be wrong."
Luckily my inlaws are both heart researchers and told me to insist the doctors do their tests because heart disease can and does happen to men and women of all ages. Because I know the Drs aren't worried about it, when it happens it doesn't freak me out as much.
Do you have a lot of stress in your life? Stress can do crazy things to the body. You may need to evaluate what is giving you the most grief and either find a way to eliminate that from your life or find a way to deal with it. Yoga for me is a huge stress relief though I don't do it nearly often enough.
Whatever you do go to the Doctor and don't take no for an answer. It's your health and no one cares about it more than you.

I agree with MC. It could be an irregular heartbeat - which is something my dad has. Or it could be something more serious - one of my brother's friends has a condition, I can't recall what it is exactly but the symptoms are similar to an irregular heartbeat but it is something that needs to be treated regularly. You need to get yourself to the doctor to find out for sure what is going on so if it is something serious it can be taken care of.

there are different kinds. It can be serious and it could not be. It could also be that you are stressed out. Good that the dr is doing a scan. I hope everything is ok. Let us know how it turns out!
