Hives

For a long time now off and on I would get a hive or two on my face. It would pop up out of no where and disappear just as quickly. I shrugged it off as just a slight allergy to something but lately out of nowhere they pop up more and more and I'm starting to worry. I can't think of anything new I'm doing to make them flare up. I looked online and it says there is no 100% sure cause or in some cases it could be something bad. Has anyone had this problem? I have always had sensitive skin so is this the reason? Need some comfort:-( thank you.

Hives... on Feb 06, 2012 @ 11:01 am

I would probably see your family doctor and see what they suggest. Hives can be caused by allergies so they might do an allergy test. So it might not be product you put on your skin that causes hives but it can be what you eat or even stuff like ragweed during the spring can cause a flare up.

On top of figuring out what is causing your hives that they can probably suggest (or prescribe) some creams to help sooth your skin during a flare up so it'll be more manageable and less itchy.

I've only broken out in hives once on my face, it was because of the conditioner I was using for my hair. Luckily I figured out pretty fast and stopped using it so they eventually went away. I have broken out in hives a bunch (on my arms) from pollen and stuff when I was younger thankfully I grew out of that and now just suffer the nose and itchy eye symptoms of springtime allergies.

I'm sure you're fine, you might not be allergic to anything just the fact that it's been cold and your skin is drier can cause it to go into panic mode also. Good luck, I hope you find relief soon.

It can be from a number of things as mercurysmile said if it progresses see your family doctor and perhaps they can set you up to see a dermatologist. You may be having a allergic reaction to something,it may be something you ate,if your nervous or anxious about something you can break out.So just be aware whats going on different in your life.did you use a new cream on your face, eat something different or having some anxieties.Good luck hope it gets better!

i can relate on Feb 12, 2012 @ 11:52 pm

recently whenever I am stressed out I get them too... I take quercitin ( great natural antihistamine with no side effects) and homepathic urtica urens in 9ch. Works like a charm not to mention there are no side effects. You should try to identify what's causing them tho'. Try to keep track of what you eat, body washes, face washes, shampoos, lotions, detergent, food, medication and stressors in your life.

someone in my family got hives a while ago and i dont think we ever found out what caused it but they were told to take Benadryl to get rid of them (which is commonly used for allergies), so if they bother you you can always trying taking some of these once you do get them.

try something natural for it. also keep a log of what you eat, put on etc.
try to switch you soap, shampoo, laundry detergent to natural ones without sulfates etc. This has helped me.

I get a rash whenever I visit a hotel. I know it is their soap and the laundry soap.

Stress also causes hives.

Can not drinking any water be the cause? on Feb 16, 2012 @ 01:47 pm

I am guilty of never drinking water, all I drink is Pepsi everyday. My skin is pretty dry from the weather and not drinking water doesn't help either. Could this be the reason?

Drink more water on Feb 16, 2012 @ 02:06 pm

Hey Carmen,

Yes definitely you need to drink more water. There are a lot of toxins in your system that aren't getting flushed out and maybe as a result are poping up as what you think are hives.

I highly suggest squeezing a little bit of fresh lemon into your water. Not only does this help cleanse your liver but makes your water taste way better if you happen to not be crazy about water.

Oh boy you drink a lot of pepsi huh... I think slowly by drinking more water you will crave less pepsi in general. You are probably thirsty and your body wants water and you are giving it a soft drink instead.

hope this helps you.

Thanks!!! on Feb 16, 2012 @ 02:19 pm

Yes all I drink is soda, about 3-4 cans a day and no water. My skin is pretty dry so maybe my skins defenses are low from no moisture? I know I should drink water I am guilty of that:-(
