I haven't been able to find a thread
relating to this topic, so I thought I would
I began making my own skin care,
Beauty products and such around
4 or 5 Years ago.
I got tired of paying through the nose
for organic products in store.
and I refuse to use products filled
with chemicals - what goes on your skin
and scalp goes into your body!
It's taken some practice, lots of trial
and error - but I have made some really
great body butters, lip balms, eczema
creams, Shampoo and more.
Anyone else into this type of thing?

I do this for hair masks and face masks. You can make great skincare with household items and fresh fruits. It's fun too. It's just tedious to whip up batches if you're a busy person.

I have made my own hair masks before, but most of the time I never have the ingredients that different "recipes" call for. Plus I have sensitive skin and don't like the feeling of a lot of things-- both all natural and store-bought-- so I'm kind of picky. But we recently bought our first thing of coconut oil, and I know that stuff is supposed to be really great for your skin and hair, so maybe I'll revisit making my own stuff!

I've been incorporating more and more natural products into my skin and hair care regimen and find I get better results, as well as the peace of mind that I'm putting something safe on my body. I also save more money since I buy in bulk and can use the same ingredients, such as coconut oil, for many purposes.
Do you have a blog where you share some of your recipes? If so, it would be interesting to try some of them out!

Hi there. I would love for you to post the recipes for your homemade products. That sounds very intriguing and I would love to try it. Thanks-Ginger.

I've used coconut oil for my hair and it worked really well for me, used it as a hair mask once a month. I've tried one face mask recipe about two months ago and enjoyed that. Using one avocado for a hair mask is amazing as well. I actually like hearing about natural stuff and diy.

With the way the cosmetics are always going up in price and also I try not to buy any thing that is tested on animals . I see so many great homemade beauty products you can make at home on Pinterest it might be my new hobby.

Most are quite easy to make.
The most time consuming I've found
are my body butters... I'm quite picky
so I like the consistency just right.
Lip balms are the most simple..
I make most of myear recipes in
under 5 minutes plus set time.

Yes i love making my own cosmetics.
Most of all, i like buying oils as "base" ( jojoba, argan, abricot, neem... ).
Then i add essential oils depending what i'm needing at the moment. So if i'm breaking out, i'll had tea tree essential oil, if i need a boost/glow i'll add lemon essential oil, etc.
Then it's also cheap, fun and easy to use natural products as toner. Rose water is a good example.
