Good morning to all you lovely Chicks out there near and by far.I have a question for some of you Chicks and don't know if any you can tell me.I have been going through a lot of medical problems this year, guess some of them comes with age but, anyway,I have to have a scope put down my throat in a couple of weeks and was wondering,if any you Chicks had it done and does it hurt?Do they put you asleep for this?I sound like a wess.I know.

ordinarily, you are not put to sleep, but if you are nervous, you can ask for sedation....usually either a pill or an IV sedation. Throat is anesthetize do, so not painful. Hope that helps.

My boyfriend also has to get this done in a couple of weeks. He has had one before and said that its just uncomfortable to have something go down your throat like that but they did tell him that they can put him out this time if he would prefer it.

I don't know how the procedure is supposed to be done, but I wish you the best of luck and a good recovery. Hang in there!

Had it several times. They will give you something to relax. You will barely remember a thing when you come out of it.

My brother had this done earlier in the year. They sprayed his throat in order to numb everything and prevent him from gagging, then did the test. He said the spray was some pf the worst stuff he'd ever tasted, and the scope was a bit uncomfortable, but not painful. It also doesn't take long. I'm sure they can give you something if you're really nervous!

The laryngoscopy itself is uncomfortable, but definitely not painful. It really does not require a hospital stay and can be performed in a doctor's office.Hope this helps, and all the best to you.

I had it done and they give you a super high dose of valium, you are so out of it and relaxed and it over before you know it. The worst part was the gas pains afterwards because the put air in to get a better view. This is easier than getting blood drawn.

My mum had this done and in her case they just spray an anasthetic on the back of the throat.
She said it's not painful, but uncomfortable because you can feel it moving. If you're really nervous, talk to your doc about what they can do to help you feel calmer!
You might have already had the procedure. If so, I hope it went well and that you're doing ok!
