you won't like it but the best solution: on Oct 23, 2014 @ 12:24 am

Even though you said you didn't want it, a night-guard is the way to go. Be sure to get it from your dental professional so it is properly custom molded for you. I mean, at night, while you're sleeping, you can't stop doing it...

Mouth Guard is the best way on Oct 25, 2014 @ 01:06 pm

Mouth Guard is the best way to stop TNJ from night clenching. Relaxing before bed so you are not so tense also helps. Try listening to relaxing sounds on a disc. I listen to whale sounds or a babbling brook.

I so understand this! I had a night guard years ago when I was a teenager. It was before they started making soft ones. This thing was molded right onto my teeth...it clicked into place, was rock hard, and very uncomfortable.

I've had some serious problems with jaw clenching the past few years, to the point that I do it when I'm awake. Hasn't been too bad lately, but I need to do something about it. There is a cheaper way to go instead of the dentist...it's called The Doctor's Nightguard. It's sort of a do-it-yourself kit. There are a couple of reviews here from 3 years ago and they aren't good, but maybe look into it. It costs about $30. I'm thinking of trying it myself.

I clench day and night. I have a bruxism mouth guard from my dentist. It is the best investment I ever made.
Walmart sells guards that work ok short term while you save for a real bruxism. It is a clear box (can't remember the name). It has a U shape and each end has the pad that rests on your teeth to protect you from clenching.
I made them last longer by cleansing it really well and re-using. This way I didn't have to spend so much. I was able to save enough to get a proper bruxism from the dentist. Maybe you could ask if your dental office does payment plans.

Any dentist will tell you a mouth guard is what you need. Sorry but it's true.

My husband does this so bad at night time. I will wake him up and tell him to stop cause by morning-his jaw hurts so bad. It is caused by TMJ usually and a mouthguard usually is the only option.

There must be a reason why you do this at Bedtime.Do you do it in the Day Time? If it were me,I would go to my Doctor for advice and to find out what is causing this.Could be something simple causing this.If you go,let us know how you made out.Good luck myChicky Friend.
