According to my "period tracker app" my cycle is 7 days late, starting tomorrow. The app is actually pretty accurate every month. I'm 25 and haven't been sexually active for awhile,so there is no way that I could be pregnant. I've never just skipped a period and I'm not on any kind of birth control. I have been pretty stressed lately, I just moved a little more than a month ago,and I have been a bit stressed from some family stuff. I got my last period a few days after my move, and I seem to always be stressed out,so could stress really be the cause of such a late period? Has anyone experienced this? I'd appreciate your opinions.

Danielle, don't be nervous that you haven't got it this month yet,at your age, your hormones are still trying to balance out. I wouldn't worry about being pregnant either ...unless there was actual intercourse involved. But,you should never fool around without protection, no matter the circumstance.

autumnwalker87 my guess would be that the stress is messing with your cycle. If you are really worried though, just see your doctor.
101danielle you can't mess with just putting the tip in. That is dangerous stuff. You always need protection.

Ali's right, stress can definitely throw off your period! In fact, it happened to me during my last cycle. I was about 2 weeks early and was completely blindsided because I didn't get any of the usual PMS right before (bloating, irritability, etc). However, I DID get my PMS at the time when I was expecting to get my period so that was kind of weird! I have had a regular cycle for a really long time so that just goes to show you can have off months here and there no matter how long you've been menstruating.
As for unprotected sex, even just rubbing naked genitals against each other without full penetration can transfer sperm to your vagina. The likelihood of actually getting pregnant like that is probably really low, but it's simply not worth the risk. Many men have pre-ejaculation that they may not even feel yet it contains some sperm. And if he came earlier via a handjob for example, there could be sperm still on his penis (even if he wore a condom - just think about it) unless he bathed thoroughly.
Ideally I want to tell you that you should confide in your parent because parents should support their children in any circumstance even if they strongly disagree with their actions. You didn't mention how close you and your dad are, so that can make things complicated.
If you do decide to tell him, be honest. Don't leave stuff out or lie because the truth usually comes out eventually anyway. He can't help you properly if he doesn't know the facts. And if he's half the Dad every daughter deserves, he'll love you no matter what even if he's ticked off!

autumnwalker87 So glad to hear it finally came!
101danielle Any sign of it? If you are really worried you could take a pregnancy test. If you are pregnant you would be far enough along to get a positive result. There's also a chance it is late because you are stressed that you might be pregnant. As some of us were saying, stress does have a way of delaying your cycle. If you are pregnant, you should talk to your Dad right away.

First of all, those period tracker apps are one of the best things out there for your phone. I swear by mine, I love that they tell you like one or two days before it is expected and I like the idea of tracking your symptoms too.
Okay, not that that is done, I definitely think it is all stress related. I once had a very very stressful month where I didn't get it at all or a stressful month where it stopped for a day, only to return the day after. If you aren't sexually active at the moment, I think that this is probably it but to be on the safe side you might want to see a doctor.

Yea,I got it at an extremely odd time as well. And my anxiety has been crazy bad this time around on my period with heart palpitations, ill never had that happen...anxiety yes..but not the palpitations. Today,my head is very much in a fog.
Has anyone tried UTI medicine to help with their cramps? I get such terrible cramps and midol has a weird effect on me,so I find tylenol and the UTI medicine help the most.
But yea,I don't think anything serious is wrong, now that I've got it..I guess stress can really do a number on us.
Thanks for all the help you guys!

I used to get those all the time. Particularly when I was starting the company and in school full time. I was working so hard my heart was racing all the time. I even had it checked out at the hospital. It was definitely stress and it taught me that even in the thick of it, you have to take some down time and a few moments to catch your breath every day. It also helps to have a light at the end of the tunnel. I knew that in 2 years my degree would be finished and I would just be running the company vs. doing both. Having an end in sight helped. Is there an end in sight for the stress you are under?
