Lip Gloss To Prevent Date Rape?

I just came across an article on ComseticsDesign.com about a lip gloss that can detect the date rape drug.

The lip gloss, called 2LoveMyLips contains a drug testing taper that can detect GHB and Ketamine.  The managing director of the company, Tracy Whittaker says that girls on a night out with suspicions about their drink can just dab the taper in, and watch to see if the colour changes to blue.

“If they turn blue tell your friends immediately and get help from security and the police,” she explained.

The company plans to make the product available in vending machines in pub and club toilets as this is where girls may need it most.

What do you guys think? Is this a great idea?

**unfortunately the 2LoveMyLips website is currently under construction

great idea, if it works on Feb 18, 2011 @ 11:06 am

I think this is a great idea! That is, if it really works. There are so many different drugs out there, they'd need to update their testing catchment regularly.

...with Mamaluv. It was have to be constantly updated because as soon as whoever the heck makes these drugs gets word of this, they will be searching for ways around it.

Keep Alert on Feb 19, 2011 @ 05:44 pm

I'm guessing this wouldn't work if someone's already intoxicated and wouldn't even think as far as having their drink drugged!

It's still important to just keep alert and protect your drink from potential offenders!

I think so too on Feb 23, 2011 @ 01:08 pm

I think it's a great idea if it works ... and yes Jen you're right, if you are still sober enough to test your drink.

I still think the best way to keep yourself safe at bars/clubs is to travel with friends (you trust) and keep track of your group (everyone looks out for someone else) and of course cover/monitor your drink.

That is such a great idea but I guess I'll have to see it for myself to believe it..it does seem too good to be true. I am assuming that they'll package it like a lip gloss so I hope no one will actually use it on their lips.
