National Cancer Survivor's Day

Today is National Cancer Survivor's Day. Cancer is the cause of 1 in 4 deaths in the U.S.  That's over half a million people, young and old. However, the 5-yr survival rate has dramatically increased over the 1970's, up from 50% to 68%. Arm yourself with early detection & prevention! Tobacco, poor nutrition, physical inactivity, & being overweight ARE the largest contributing factors, all factors you CAN do something about!!

Established health screenings are vital. I know...as busy women, busy moms, we just don't have the time. Here's what I know: Regular use of some established screening tests can prevent the development of cancer through identification and removal or treatment of premalignant abnormalities. They also improve survival and decrease the death rate by detecting cancer at an early stage when treatment is more effective.

Don't be an alarmist, but arm yourself with facts. Go to www.cancer.org to get the facts. I don't want this annual day to be something you want to celebrate!!
