I am 24 years old and have never had a pap test done. I've been on birth control for 6 years and have ever only had sex with the same one partner (I'm the only one he has had sex with too). I used to have a family doctor, but he never said I should do one, so I never asked him about it. But recently, I moved to another province and no longer have a family doctor. Do I need to find a family doctor to have one done? Or can they be done at the hospital? I honestly don't really want to get one done but I've heard they are important... any info or advice would be appreciated!

If you're sexually active you should do a pap test every year. Its extremely important. If you don't have a family doctor you can always go to a walk in clinic.

It is important to take a PAP TEST even if you have a fixed partner. My doctor will only do one every 3 years.
I do suggest you get one. It's more about early detection of cancer than STD's if you've only been with one partner. If you don't have a doctor, see if you can find a health unit, or nurse practitioner in your area.

I was the same way, I had a boyfriend since I was 18 and never had a Pap test done until I found out I was pregnant at 25. The test is not going to be bad at all I was terrified to get one and now I know it's not as bad as I was thinking but you defiantly should have one. Like the girls said you can go to a walk in clinic, even go to a female doctor if that would make you more comfortable.

I agree with the other ladies, its really important to have them done,I go every two years myself, I know you might feel nervous about going, but trust me once you going ,it is so worth it to stay healthy ,I have a friend who had ovarian cancer and going for pap tests saved her life.

Yes! Get one done! If you're sexually active you should have one at least every 3 years. I get mine done at my family doctor.

You should definitely get a PAP. It's not fun but it's important in your sexual health. Many things can happen at no fault to you or your partner.... your "lady parts" are an essential organ and you wan to be in the loop.

You should definitely have one done. They are so important. Either at a Drs office or walkin.

Definitely something you need to do. It's beneficial for you to know if you are well. PAP tests don't take long around 20-30 minutes and are not painful. You can go to a walk in clinic if you haven't decided on your family doctor.

You should have one every 3 years. Just to be safe:) what I am wondering is that I have a friend who is 28 and a virgin and has never had a doctor look at her private parts. Even if she isn't sexually active shouldn't she need one??
