So I'm not worried that I'm pregnant, I'm single and not sexually active at the moment, however, I am late by about 7 days...and this is not a normal occurrence for me, considering my last 12 period have occurred like clockwork....every 28-29 days. I'm just wondering what can cause this...I'm not going through any changes, I'm not travelling, I'm not more stressed than usual at work or at home - in fact, this didn't even happen during a period in my life when I WAS travelling, and/or not eating properly, etc, bc of being stressed....could this just be a random episode of not ovulating? Does that happen and is that normal? Or could this be some hormonal imbalance that I should get checked out for?

So, I was kind of wondering the same thing - I'm actually 2 weeks late on my period, and my other cycles have been regular - and on time. I haven't been sexually active, or changed anything in my lifestyle - So I have no idea what's going on.
I actually booked an appointment with my doctor for this week, so hopefully she can give me some answers - and I can send them along to you as well.

Are you hanging out with one of your girlfriends more often, or do you have a new roommate?
I know this will sound nuts but your period may actually change to follow another females cycle. This happened to me when my sister in law moved in with us over the summer one year. My cycle changed and synchronized with her.
Some say it's an urban legend and others think it's true. I believe :)

The first thing I thought of was exactly what @amandainmtl said, it has actually happened to me before that I moved into a house with a few other girls and my period was late because we were all syncing up. I know getting your period late is scary but I don't think it's exactly cause for alarm juuusttt yet. Definitely check in with a doctor but remember, periods are not an exact science!

Hey! I usually have clockwork cycles myself and I ended up getting it 4 days late this month. I didn't think anything could really cause it to be late, but you'd be amazed. Little things can set your body off. Also, another thing to consider, maybe you have ovulated, you just ovulated late.
Remember it isn't just outside influences that can disrupt your period, there can be stuff going on in the inside, too! Perhaps your body is switching up the cycle. Scarleteen, a wonderful sexual health website for young people, has an article about missing periods. They say that it's normal for a woman to have a late or missed period once or twice a year. If you don't end up getting it, I wouldn't worry unless you don't get it the next month. You're right when you say it could simply be a case of not ovulating.
If you haven't had sex, than relax. She'll show up in her own time. :)
