I'm trying to find a psychiatrist to see. I was suggested to get a few recommendations from my doctor but she still hasn't gotten back to me and it's been a week. I know most are full and you'll have to go on a waiting list but I'm ok with that. If anyone has any recommendations could you please let me know?

Go back to your doctor/or call and ask if you were referred yet.Any type of doctor there seems to be a long waiting list I would think it would unfortunately be the same with a psychiatrist. If you are really feeling depressed let your doctor know!Your doctor can let a psychiatrist know you are urgent to see someone and that may speed up the waiting.I hope you get in soon :)

If you are still in school, then often your school will have a free psychiatrist that you can get in to see fairly soon.
Otherwise, I think you need to go through your doctor most often to be referred and so it is covered by OHIP - though I could be totally wrong here!
But depression or any other mental health problem is definitely a serious issue. Talk to your doctor and keep at it. When you tell your doctor that you are depressed, they should take this seriously. If they aren't, you need to find someone else.
In the meantine, look online for support groups near you or for advice in dealing with the issue!

My doctor FINALLY got back to me but was seriously unhelpful. She said she only knew one psychiatrist but she isn't accepting new patients. She told me to find my own and she'll give me a referral when necessary but I have to do the work in finding one myself. Kind annoying.
Thanks a lot for the number of Dr. White Becky. I'll contact him/her tomorrow.
