Spitting

Why oh why do people spit?! I was brought up being told it is rude and disgusting, and one is never to spit in public. But I see people here spitting all the time. Do they not realize it is gross and no one wants to step in their spit, or do they not care?

I once dated a guy who spat. I told him off, because not only was it gross, he was in my presence and it made me look and feel dirty. He explained to me he did not like swallowing spit, that it was gross. Well, it definitely does not belong on the pavement! It comes from us and belongs inside our bodies. Where I come from only "low class" people spit. Indeed the only time I spit is when I brush my teeth.

Would you ever date a spitter? What are your thoughts on this?

Spitting is awful and those who try to bump it up a notch and see if they can hit a store window or a specific letter on the stop sign need to be smacked :).

I wouldn't date a spitter. Spitting totally turns me off.

No one told me spitting is rude/disgusting. I just remember seeing
people do it in the public when I was young and I automatically thought
it was disgusting. I think it was the flying spit heading straight for
my legs that did the trick for me.

I think spitting is like smoking. Young kids, perhaps around junior
high age, sees their friends doing it, probably know it's gross but
they think it's cool, so they do it too. (How anyone with any brain
cells at all, even underdeveloped ones, can perceive spitting as cool
is completely beyond me.)

Nessie, it's strange that the guy says he doesn't like swallowing his
spit. I'm sure he wasn't born with the habit, it was a learned
behaviour. So what? Did he just get up one morning and deicded he
doesn't like to swallow the fluid he's been swallowing all this life
and from now on, he'll collect every drop of saliva in his mouth and
spit it out? That's a pretty lame excuse, huh?

Heehee...I think there should be some sort of sanity by-law and force
spitters to walk around with a spit cup hung around their necks. :P

Awful! on May 25, 2009 @ 11:29 pm

Spitting is a dirty habit. If I met a guy and I thought he was great but had a the bad habit of spitting, I would tell him that it turned me off and I don't appreciate it. If it really bothered me so much, I'd probably talk to him again about it, or end it with him.

I remember this one time, I was driving and a old man spit from his moving car, and I could hear him clearing his throat before he did it, and of course I was driving behind him, and his nasty crap fell onto my car. I was so grossed out!

It's a bad habit, and I would not tolerate that in my man!

AHHHH.... I totally dated a spitter (well not for very long) and it's a nasty habit.

He said the same thing "I I just have to, I have too much spit in my mouth"... to which I replied, well hmmm... you don't just sit around your house with a container that you spit into because of the massive amounts of spit you produce. People who spit seem to only do it when they are outdoors, so it's in their heads. Its a Gross habit and it just makes them looks awful.
