How do you cope with stress? What are your tricks to staying calm in stressful situations? I'm tired and cranky and breaking out, dry scalp and really irritable. Any tips?

I haven't really found a good way to deal with stress. I tend to bottle things up inside and at some point I have so much stress and frustration and hurt pent up inside me that some small, trivial little thing upsets me and I go over the edge and just totally break down and wind up on the phone with my boyfriend crying and venting about everything. Once I do that I always feel better though. Certainly not a very good way to go about it; but having someone to talk to about it all helps. I need to learn to talk about it as things are happening though rather than holding it all in and waiting till there's a ton of stuff bothering me.

If he's not around, I write. Sometimes poems, songs etc. If a specific person is causing the stress I write a letter to them to vent my feelings - not a letter to be sent mind you, just a letter to get it all out. Once I'm done writing, I burn it so there is no chance of them (or anyone else for that matter) accidentally finding and reading it. Writing's very therapeutic for me.

It depends... on Oct 23, 2007 @ 12:54 pm

stress relief depends on the person... I find that I take a break for me when I am something I love to do... and then I feel better. For some people it is yoga, chatting on the phone with a friend, going for a walk etc. Life is too short to let stress beat you down! Take a ME BREAK and commit to taking time for yourself! :o)
