This is my first baby, was due Dec 27 based off my cycle, but after the first ultrasound the date was bumped up to Dec. 23 based on the growth pattern seen in the ultrasound image.
Baby is very very low, cervix is very thin, but still only 1cm dilated from 37 weeks and a weekly membrane sweep performed every week since then. I'm scheduled to induce this Saturday on the 3rd. I'm pretty disappointed since I had wanted a more natural birth, with the option of pain relief if I chose to. But to be induced and know that my very first labour is going to be longer and more painful and difficult than normal? Now I'm just scared. More than I was in the first place.

Welcome to Mommyhood!
Don't worry. Honest.
My first two daughters (9 pounds and 9 pounds, 12oz.) were induced. The labors with them were FAR easier than the one with my third daughter(and she was only 6 pounds, 10 oz!).
Even during a difficult labor, the joy you'll feel when you hold your little one for the first time will be the most wonderful sensation on Earth. :)

Really? You found them to be easier? Well, I'm hoping. I just read everywhere that taking pitocin makes contractions longer and more painful. But I suppose there's no point in worrying, it is what it is. Obviously I'm just too comfortable of a home, that, or baby is very stubborn, so there's nothing I can do but wait to be induced. Thanks for the words of encouragement ^_^

Absolutely. I read/heard the same things, but it actually seemed like my labor with the first two was MUCH quicker... and definitely less painful... than the "uninduced third one."
Saturday will be here before you know it... I'll be sending best wishes and happy thoughts your way!

Thanks again :) I'm going to try to take what comes, and not think about it too much. I'm sure worrying and stressing about the possibility that it'll be extra painful will just make it more painful. Hopefully the ultrasound comes up good tomorrow and baby is still healthy and I won't get bumped on Saturday if someone else needs to be induced first.
