Babies can get lots of rashes and your nurse is correct if he gets a fever and has a rash that is a time to be more concerened. Is it dry or scabby looking?Or is it small blister like?It is always best with a baby to go to your doctor to be sure and get a proper diagnosis.
It will make you feel much better to have him checked out by a doctor. That way you may get some meds or creams to start healing the rash.At this time I wouldnt try to many lotions you dont want to make it worse wait to see what a doctor recommends ...Good Luck and I hope your little guy is feeling better

My baby got stuff like that when a wash or lotion didn't agree with him. Though baby products are supposed to be gentle (especially the natural ones), they didn't always work for him. I had to try many different products before I found ones that didn't bother his skin. Now that he is over 1 years old, I find his skin more tolerant to different types.

Babies do get rashes from dryness, from heat, from night sweats, from a switch in laundry detergent, contact with fragrances (either from another person's perfume or fragrances in Baby's care products, etc) and many other possible causes.
In my experience, as long as he's comfortable and has no other symptoms I wouldn't worry about it especially since you've also taken the step of consulting your doctor.
Cetaphil is great because it's super mild and richly moisturizing. However, if that doesn't work try what I used when my kids would get eczema outbreaks during the winter:
Mix "glaxal base" (a base lotion you find at the pharmacy and is fragrance free) with a small quantity of plain Vaseline in your hand and then apply to the dry patches (or wherever).
You might also try an oat bath. I'm sure some of the other moms here have great ideas about that. I have never tried one but I hear it works wonders.
