Canadian Baby Photographers

I just got a call from Canadian Baby Photographers. They offered to come to my home for a photo session, 15 poses and no sitting fee. I will receiving a 5x7 and a photo calendar for free.

I don't know how they got my number. I should've asked but I didn't think of it. I haven't made an appointment yet because this sounds too good to be true.

So I'm wondering if anyone has heard of them or had experience with them?

Yup, I've done this on Sep 22, 2008 @ 11:05 am

In my experience, it was exactly as advertised. They came to my home, used my props plus a few things they brought with them, and made wonderful pics. After a few weeks I received my free pic, and then they whipped out all the other gorgeous photos for me to buy at the usual prices (which were, of course, quite a lot). I was so tempted but we were students at the time and didn't have the spare cash. The photog was nice about it, informed me that they'd keep my pics on file for a certain time (1 year??) and I could call back anytime.

They got my name from Welcome Wagon, who in turn got my contact info from the hospital. you know all those forms you get? There was probably a WW one in there too.

So, my experience was pretty good. I hope this helps!

Thanks for the info!! on Sep 22, 2008 @ 01:12 pm

Yeah, I googled a bit on these people and so far, all I've found is a forum post from moms in Calgary who had bad experience with them. They said the sales person was very pushy when trying to sell them the photos. Maybe I'll ask a few more questions when they call back later. I didn't make an appointment because my little guy can't hold up his head on his own yet, although he's been trying awfully hard. :)

you can take 'em! on Sep 22, 2008 @ 04:51 pm

Hey, you just pushed a baby out your whoo hoo! I think you can handle a salesguy ;) I think it'll probably come down to the individual, and it's possible that the company only has one or two reps in Calgary - maybe they all got the same person.

Bottom line: if you like a freebie, you may as well go for it!

Now time share presentations on the other hand, I would rather give birth again than sit through one of those (been there, done that, hated it).

Thanks! on Sep 26, 2008 @ 05:01 pm

I had a little baby boy. :) He was 2 weeks (minus 1 day) late. He was born at 9 lbs! :) I had a difficult labour but slowly recovering. I'm lucky because my mom and my hubby have both been very very helpful and I do get a decent amount of sleep. Baby is also very well behaved, for the most part. He's very good at night which is great for me since I go solo on the night shifts. He's a bit fussy during the day but my mom is around the help. :)

I have lots of plans for Baby and I after I'm fully recovered. I'd love to do "Yoga with Baby" and "Salsa with Baby"! :D Anyone has experience with those classes?

Pictures on Sep 29, 2008 @ 11:40 am

So I had the photos done on Friday, and it went fine!
The photographer showed up exactly when they said she would, she was very nice. In and set up before I could even change my son's diaper, took maybe 25-30 pictures, and was out within a half hour! They bring everything they need, I just supplied some baby blankets, a toy and one outfit.
She said they would call in 10 days when the pictures came in to set up an appointment for their sales person to come and meet with my husband and I...So far a good experience :)

stand firm on Sep 30, 2008 @ 08:28 am

So they're sending in their sales specialist, huh? This is the annoying part, but if you go into the "negotiation" with a budget in mind and a firm attitude, you'll manage them.

I am waiting another 2 weeks on Oct 01, 2008 @ 04:19 am

The photographer called again yesterday to set up an appointment. I think Baby can hold his head up long enough for the shoot but I wasn't sure since we haven't really done a lot of tummy time. So we decided to wait another 2 weeks to take the pictures.

I specifically asked them if there are any obligations to buy any
photos. Of course they said no, but that doesn't stop them from
putting on the pressure when they come back. She did say that we'll
get a price list and we can order the pictures from them any time
afterwards.

Misslizzy, keep us posted on their return visit!!
