Hello Mommies :)
My daughter and I made it 7 months with breastfeeding and I have dried up. I haven't started my period yet so I was wondering how long it took yours to start after stopping breastfeeding. Also, were there any other changes you experienced?
Hello on May 28, 2015 @ 09:24 pm
Mine stopped after 4 months because my baby does not want to latch anymore.
Left me sore and engorged for almost 1 month. I also got my period after 4 weeks (after my breastmilk is gone).
Hope this helps.

I actually got my cycle back while breastfeeding, only 2 months after giving birth and I was nursing all day. It was very odd.

Following....still breastfeeding (baby is 4 months) but curious about everyone's experience.
Changes after breastfeeding on May 29, 2015 @ 12:24 pm
My cycle came back the 3rd month after birth even though I was breastfeeding exclusively. When I weaned my first child I went through a brief period of feeling a bit down, not depressed but a little bit emotional. When you breastfeed you have high levels of the feel good hormone oxytocin and when you wean these levels go down. Breastfeeding your baby gives you an immense feeling of closeness and when you stop it can be a bit hard on you emotionally. In my experience it didn't last long.
I had a lot of breakouts when I weaned my oldest. I also continued to leak a bit of milk for well over a year. Not enough to soak my shirt or bra but rather drops here and there. Also, my breasts changed. None of my pre-pregnancy bras fit. I went down in band size and cup as well. I recommend going and getting refitted for new bras as soon as any engorgement you may experience subsides.
I'm still breastfeeding my second so I have no idea what I'm in store for this time around!
Hope this helps!

Thank you for your input!
I have been quite emotional now that we are finished because I do miss that bond and closeness...she still likes to cuddle though so that helps :)
I'm dreading getting my period again!!
10 months post partum for me. on May 29, 2015 @ 10:26 pm
I'm still breastfeeding (my little one is one) but I got my period back 10 months post-partum... I guess the feedings decreased enough once solids were well established.

My cycle came back exactly 6 months after birth and I was still breastfeeding exclusively.

I was breastfeeding for 2years and 2 months. My daughter is 2and half. Anyways every woman is different. There are many changes after stopping breastfeeding like increased or decreased appetite will be the first one. Lots of abdominal pain since after breastfeeding your body prepares for its period. Anyways you should be getting it soon. No worries.
