Early pregnancy test accuracy ?

I wanted to see if any of you have used early pregnancy tests and what your experience was !

I am not due to start my period until about the 18th . However yesterday ( the 14th ) I took 3 early pregnancy tests ( first response ) and they all were positive . This morning I took another and it also said positive .

I want to believe I am but I've also read an article that says these early tests are misleading . That I could start anyway and not really be pregnant . It would break my heart .

Any comments about your experience would be appreciated !

I would wait and do one after your due date for period.

Personally, I would wait until after your period is due. I had a false positive on 4 tests (taken early), and then got my period two days later. But, I also had a negative test when I was pregnant (3 months) with my daughter..

I took early tests too. Chances are you are pregnant but try again the day your period is due or even better go to dr for a blood test, which will be totally accurate. Let us know so we can officially congratulate you!

Thank you for responding ! on Jan 15, 2014 @ 09:41 am

I tend to worry because I miscarried last year . Plus I've tortured myself by looking online . Reading about chemical pregnancies and what not ! I'm determined to stay positive though . The fact is that it is a waiting game which for most of us is torture >_< ! I have a doctors appointment the 31st that I hope I'm gifted with keeping . I will definitely keep you all posted on progress .
Again , thank you ! ?

If 4 tests say you are pregnant, this is a very good sign. I do agree with the others that you should check again after your period is late and then eventually get confirmation from a doctor.

If possible, just try to stay calm and relaxed. A body under stress is more likely to have a variety of negative health outcomes, so it's one thing to be keyed up because of happiness over a possible pregnancy, but try to not allow negative thoughts (fear of miscarriage, BS you read on the internet) to ruin your mood.

Keep us posted!

Read the instructions. on Jan 21, 2014 @ 12:11 am

The instructions usually say when you should test, and when the test will be most reliable.

Stay away from the Internet !!! on Jan 21, 2014 @ 05:50 am

Stay away from the internet! Too many different possibilities (mostly negative) and you will just make yourself go crazy. Try to relax, and hope for the best!

And, as @AlideBold said above, definitely keep us updated!

Update on Jan 21, 2014 @ 11:28 am

I did read instructions . I was confident I was until I read about early pregnancy tests being misleading online. That why I was worried and wondered about other women and their experiences taking early tests. I have had bad nausea (all the women in my family do) which is why i suspected it!

So far I have taken multiple early tests . I was suppose to start on Saturday so I am officially late and SO HAPPY!!! I just took my last test and it had a darker result than any previous tests. Our first appointment is the 31st !

Thank you all for your help!

Now lets just hope the extreme fatigue gives me a break soon! :)

So happy for you! Congratulations and thanks for the update! The first trimester can be hard. But once you get around the 12-14 week you should start to feel much better and have a lot more energy. This is very exciting!
