i have been stressed out lately. so that can actually stop a period?

Yes, stress can definitely alter your cycle. I have experienced up to 1 week late due to stress, but never a skipped cycle. However, this is one of those things that can be very different for every woman so if after a week or so you still don't have your period, you should go to your doctor.
A woman can become pregnant at any time during her cycle, although it is more likely to happen during the mid-point. You should always protect yourself during sex for this reason.
Other things can affect your cycle and cause you to be late or early. I'd say it's a little too soon to freak out, but if it gives you peace of mind you should take a test. Know that despite what the packaging says, most docs will refuse to test you until you are at least 2 weeks late for maximum accuracy.

Yes could be a very good chance that you're pregnant however could also be affected by changes in your life. Best thing to do is get a home pregnancy test to see if you're pregnant if you don't want to go see a doctor. Keep in mind though that sometimes you have to try 2 times to ensure that the first one was accurate. Best of luck!
Its possible you might be or you're just late on Sep 18, 2010 @ 04:20 am
Well let me ask this. Did you have unprotected sex? Did the condom break? Did you miss a pill? If yes to any of those questions. Its a possibility. Do not pannick yet. This happens to a lot of young girls even older. Unplanned pregnancy can happen to anyone. I was in your shoes before being late. I even been late when I wasnt sexually active when that happens its less stressful but still concerning.
It could just be stress that has you late but if you truly are concerned go get a pregnancy test and find out. Thats the best way to know we cant guess with stuff like this. Peace of mind is a nice thing too better safe knowing than wondering.

I'm just wondering why you would have unprotected sex unless you wanted to get pregnant?
Youngandwondering on Dec 28, 2010 @ 12:11 am
I had unprotected sex about 1 and 1/2 weeks ago..
My period was supposed to start on Dec. 27 it is now Dec. 29th and still no period...
I have also been having discomfort in my tummy all day today thought I was going to start my period but it didn't come still... in addition to that I have been having random discharges of this white stuff and feeling a little nauseous?
Is this bad?
Should I take a urine test in the morning? Or should I wait a couple of days... a week and then take a test?
I am 18 years old and this is all new to me... If you know anything please help
see your doctor or go to a clinic on Dec 28, 2010 @ 03:41 am
It will not hurt to go to your doctor or if you prefer go to a clinic to get checked. You may be pregnant and also you may be stressed enough to stop your period but the end results are that you will find out either way which I'm sure will get a weight off your shoulders.Good luck to you shellybear18. :)

Based on my personal experience (and every woman is different), these do not really sound like pregnancy symptoms. Tummy pain could be constipation (and haven't we all been eating a little unhealthy at this time of year?), the discharge could be a yeast infection (I never experienced a pregnancy-caused discharge like that), and nausea doesn't kick in quite this early... or at least it didn't for me. The nausea could def be related to whatever problem is going on in your tummy, including constipation if that's the case.
Having said that, girlfriend - anytime you have sex, protected or not, you could become pregnant. It sounds like you had unprotected sex after your peak fertility but you can still conceive at any point in your cycle. Yes, you could be pregnant. But from what you've described, I have to wonder if it's just as Bren said - that you're stressed and this is causing all the symptoms. Heck, you could be pregnant and these symptoms could be completely unrelated.
Give it a week or so and then check with your doc. If you go in too early, they may not be able to detect anything with 100% accuracy. My doc would refuse to even test me until my period was at least 2 weeks late because the hormones they measure are only very slightly elevated in the first days of pregnancy.
