What are your bedtime routines you do with your children to start getting them ready for bed and in that mind frame to sleep. When did you start the routine?
I have a 4 month old and I'm wondering what I can do that's easy and quick every night. The mother-in-law says to bathe him every single night to get him ready for bed. That is just not practical. So far I usually just change his clothes and diaper, carry him slowly down the hall telling him it's bedtime, put him in bed, turn the mobile on and then I kiss his forehead and say goodnight. Usually this works. Some days he fussed a bit for a few minutes before going to sleep. I feel like when he gets older I'll probably add teeth brushing and a bedtime story. I just don't want anything too elaborate. I read to my son some nights, but right now he's not interested at all.

My kids go to bed very early, my 10 month old is usually in bed by 6:15 and my 3.5 year old 6:30. We eat dinner early (5-5:30), then it's playtime for a little bit. We then get them into their PJs, the 10 month old has a bottle in her room in the rocker with one of us and then into bed. The 3.5 year old either does a quiet craft or puzzle before brushing teeth and into her room for one book and two songs. We only do baths every second or third night unless needed nightly in the summer which happens sometimes if digging in the dirt etc. On bath nights they go right from the dinner table to the tub and play in there for a while.

My 10month goes to sleep at 830pm. She has dinner around 530-6ish with us, then well I'm doing dishes my husband will play with her. Around 745 we head upstairs and let her play on our bed for a bit and then 820pm I start breastfeeding and she's out 10-15mins later.
Mind you she does wake up around 12am for a filler and then again around 4.

I have a 7 month old who has been on this routine since he was 3 months old.. Our routine is at 6:30pm we give him his bath and then daddy will give him a little massage with lotion ( my son has sensitive skin so it helps) it also helps him relax and then I will nurse him from 7pm till about 8-8:30 pm ( I nurse him to sleep) and then he will sleep from then till anywhere between 4am to 5am. This routine works really well for him and we cannot deviate from it.

Does it always rake an hour to nurse? I formula feed so I'm just wondering if that's usual for most breastfed babies. At 7 months how often are you feeding him during the day?
