on Sep 06, 2012 @ 11:51 am With movies lately, there has been a lot of comments saying that the sequel is never as good as the first movie in the series. Creating sequels and trilogies, and splitting movies into multiple parts has been an even bigger fad in recent years. Once in a while there will be a movie sequel that gets high praise. In my opinion, Before Sunrise was a great movie and Before Sunset was also a great sequel. A third has just been filmed and I'm excited to see what happens next. This series actually leaves a number of years between filming to fit the gap between films, naturally aging the characters instead of using make up or faking the time gap. If you're interested in movies that have a lot of deep conversations about life and relationships, these movies are for you! Is there any sequels that you've seen that live up to the hype of the first movie? Or any sequels that you are looking forward to? |

![]() midnightsun2288 | Sequels on Oct 16, 2012 @ 07:16 pm I haven't heard of Before Sunrise/Sunset, but I might watch them if I get the chance. The Dark Knight was a great sequel (haven't seen the third one yet). The Lord of the Rings is my favorite series, and I love all the movies. Same with Pirates of the Carribean (although the first is my favorite). I also think that the Ace Ventura sequel was better than the first. Some Disney (or Pixar) movies have terrible sequels but Shrek 2 was good, same with Toy story. I like all the movies in the Bourne Series, and the Oceans series (Oceans 11,12, &13). I also like many of the Bond, Mission Impossible, and Die Hard movies, but I watched the movies all out of order. Other cult favorites that have decent sequels are Harry Potter and Star Wars, though I am not a huge fan of either. I feel like there are so many bad sequels out there that the good ones get forgotten, but there are definitely some out there! |

![]() lissag | it is rare... on Nov 27, 2012 @ 02:15 pm Lord of the Rings for sure (im sooo excited for The Hobbit to come out too!) Some others that come to mind are: Rush Hour Jurassic Park (i hear the 4th one is in production!) Ice Age Austin Powers I think sequels get such a bad rep these days is because Hollywood is so eager to make a sequel to anything that makes money originally, and it gets very old very fast and they're usually lacking good plot/storyline. |
