So... I purchased something earlier this morning on Amazon.ca, and as usual got free shipping on the item as it was over $25.  I just went to order something else and it now says that free shipping only kicks in over $35... did I miss something??

All about timing... on Sep 22, 2016 @ 09:26 am

Like I said, earlier this morning it was still $25... guess I should have done both of my orders earlier today :-(

Well that sucks! It's been $25 for the longest time now, but indeed, it appears that it's gone up to $35 >:(

Order waiting time on Sep 24, 2016 @ 01:39 pm

How long does it usually take for your amazon orders to arrive? Does anyone notice that if your order is larger its faster and if it is only 1 item just above the minimum free order amount it takes longer?

The delivery time depends on whether an item is in stock at the warehouse or needs to be delivered to them first. It doesn't matter how many items there.

Amazon has disappointed me on Nov 30, 2016 @ 12:23 am

I don't like this new hike in shipping. I like to get $25 gift cards and now I'll have to fork over more money to get free shipping. Not nice...Amazon is making a killing...they shouldn't bite the hand that feeds them.

I order from Amazon all the time and I just noticed as well that the free shipping is now for orders over $35!
I am ok with it though- as I live in the boons and it still helps me shop (for the price of gas for me to drive to the stores, I am still saving money!)

They also ship within the day or two days for most of my items--- I am still impressed!

(NOTE: if you order something from china-- ie phone case etc... it takes a bit of time)

Keep in mind that some items (ie those from Chinese sellers) don't count towards your free shipping minimum since they don't come from the Amazon warehouse.

Also, I don't think many of you realize how expensive shipping can be (go to your local post office and see just how much it is to ship what your last order weighed) so there's no reason to judge Amazon for wanting you to get more to justify the shipping costs since, after all, the fees they're making from the original seller are probably smaller than you think.

Amazon doesn't charge you a fee, right? A minimum shipping order is the least you could contribute. Don't treat it as wasting money since you're still paying the same for all of your items - and you get free shipping to boot. Some places have minimums of $75 or more and they're the actual sellers, not just distributors like Amazon.

In the end, your items cost the exact same and you're not charged a fee. In exchange, whether you get free shipping or not, your items are going to ship really quickly (have you seen the Amazon robots? It's amazing how the warehouse works), arrive quickly (depending on where you live), and you didn't have to spend your own money to get it. There's nothing wrong with Amazon wanting to be profitable; in the end, it's still at no [additional] cost to you.

They upped the cost a little while ago unfortunately, I heard it was an attempt to get more people to sign up for Prime.

Really the better way is to offer us the same Prime benefits as the US
