I am the first to admit that I am not much of Britney Spears fan AT ALL. However, I can't help but feel angry w/ the media. I didn't watch the MTV awards this past weekend and can only go on images I've seen here:;_ylt=AouqEnU622KGCalsA44JYmt34T0D
She is taking a bad rap for how bad her body looks. I personally think its great, after kids, that she's willing to get back up there and shake it!! Sure, her body is not as tight and hard as it was 4 years ago, but she still looks beautiful, normal, acceptable. What's the big deal here, folks!?!

Am I too forgiving? Should we expect that all people of fame, post-kids, should look like pin-ups ... forever!?!? Seems lame. Our expectations are too high.

I think the media and people in general are way too hard on celebrities and for that matter, each other - especially when it comes to bodies. It's truly ridiculous the standards women are held to. It's no wonder so many celebs crack under that kind of pressure.

I was at the Toronto Film Festival on Sunday and Kate Bosworth, one of the stars of the film I went to see, was there and wow was she skinny. She still looks beautiful but I remember her from her Blue Crush days when she was inspirationally fit and athletic. Her weight loss and celebrities like her who are stick thin just proves there is way too much pressure on these women. Britney still looks a million times better than most of the female population and has been through a media circus for years so we should all just give her a break.

I think it's great, Spotty, that people like yourself air their opinions in forums like this one and others so that maybe eventually we can all focus on more important things than the size of a famous person's butt.

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS... on Sep 11, 2007 @ 11:13 pm

I think Britney's body looks FABULOUS for having children. I know people who have had no children and are in less better shape. I think the media is being very unforgiving to her in that respect. I am not a huge Britney fan either but I do feel sorry for her. In her performance she froze up, it has been awhile since she performed, it happens!...but in terms of looks, I think she looks great. The media should just leave her alone...enough already.

I 100% agree with everything that's been said here already.

However, I think her lackluster performance didn't help (I only saw the clip on the news and that was pretty awful). If she would have rocked the house, that would have been the news of the day. Sure, the gossip rags would still have commented on her "size", as they do about everyone, but now that is the entire story - her train-wreck life, or so the gossips would have us believe.

I think she and others are generally under way too much scrutiny, and shame on us for watching Entertainment Tonight and reading People magazine. We're fueling it all, even if some celebs want the publicity for their work.

lose lose situation on Sep 12, 2007 @ 09:07 pm

I guess she may not have been ready to make a comeback. But the way I see it, w/ the media and its pressures, there's no way she could have won. Say she decided not to perform ... she'd be feeling the heat for being out of the music scene for so long. People would claim she can't hack it. I've also heard people say that she looks OK, but not OK enough for the outfit she performed in ... but, she'd be feeling the heat if she performed in something a bit less showy. We'd read things like "She wore that b/c she can't get into a skimpy showy outfit like she used to!!"

My 2 cents on Miss Brit on Sep 13, 2007 @ 12:11 pm

1. at least they are talking about her performance and not about her going wacko

2. I'm betting her performance sucked because she had not eaten for 5 days, and there were photos of her out on the town in Vegas at 2:30am the day of the show.

3. I still think she looked HOT (minus the hair thing). But I think they could have added another inch to her bottoms.

theory... on Sep 21, 2007 @ 06:23 pm

I've been wondering if this poor mess of a girl might have lingering effects of untreated post-partum? I remember seeing her interview with Matt Lauer when she was pregnant and, boy, was she she a hormonal mess. Obviously some of that is perfectly normal with pregnancy, but with two pregnancies and births so close together... She got pregnant when her first son was only three months old and I can't help but think she really had a chemical reaction to pregnancy, etc. The whole head-shaving thing and the beating-a-SUV-with-an-umbrella incident seemed particularly odd.

Honestly, I find the whole situation rather sad.
