Apparently this is kind of old news, but it's new to me!
Our lovable Bruno Mars is "due in court on charges of cocaine possession", and "could face up to four years in prison".
Some "industry experts believe the drug charges won't do much harm to the singer's rising career."
He may have "Nothin' on (Us)", but the police definitely have somethin' on him! (Sorry for the bad pun :P)
Do you think this will taint his career? Or will he continue to top the charts and grow his fan base?

I think there are plenty of actors and singers that can overcome something as "mild" as drug possession. However, if he's caught up in much more, it'll get hairy. LiLo, anyone?
Having said that, it is possible to rehabilitate your character if you were talented enough to deserve it. Robert Downey Jr stands out as an example, whose actions have been compared to Lindsay Lohan's - some even say he was worse.

I have heard plenty of commentary on Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise over the years:
Mel - obviously needs serious help, but is a gifted actor. Have you stopped watching his movies? Be honest now!
Tom - his couch jumping and fierce defense of Scientology have made him look like the biggest weirdo in Hollywood, but I still remember the cutie from Top Gun. I liked him in Valkyrie and would certainly watch more from him.
Admittedly, Tom is just a "different fella". Mel is in an entirely different category - or so the court of public opinion would say.

I agree with Mamaluv that many celebs can get past a drug scandal. Honestly, I don't think that Bruno Mars is famous enough for it to make too much of a difference. Sure it might be in the papers, but this wasn't as publicized as any of Lindsay Lohan's misdemeanors. It wasn't even considered as newsworthy as when Paris Hilton was denied entry into Japan -I read about that all over the place, and it wasn't even interesting!!
I don't know much about Mel Gibson's personal troubles, but since Tom
Cruise's couch incident, his movies have not done particularly well.
His latest flick "Knight and Day" was considered a box office flop and
some people blamed his bizarro behaviour for it. But at the same time,
he is a massive star and will likely always be in the media spotlight -- Bruno Mars is so new that if his career is still pretty
Of course, if he ends up in jail that will hurt his career as I can't imagine they have recording equipment in the slammer!
