We found this crazy story about the sketchy future of chocolate. Once we calmed down, we read deeper and it seems the problem has to do with West African farmers abandoning their crops (reasons not mentioned).
Some economists are predicting that Womankind's favourite food will skyrocket in price, saying we'll soon view it as a rare delicacy like caviar instead of a regular picker-upper.
What would you do without chocolate? Or is any price worth paying for this soul-soothing snack?

I think I'd cry if chocolate became that expensive :(
It's also my PMS medication, same goes with many of my friends. Boys better beware!

I'd just totally die without chocolate. It is most definitely my PMS go to food, my depression lifter, my me-time moment. Life is SO much more bearable with a yummy dose of chocolate.
I am a confessed choco-holic for sure! It can't go away. It just can't! hehehehe
|Don't hate me for saying this on Nov 11, 2010 @ 02:44 pm|
but I think it would be like a blessing in disguise. Less chocolate = less temptation = less growth around the waistline.
I am most definitely a chocoholic - if it's there, I cannot say no! I just can't! So I'd probably prefer that it wasn't so readily available and tempting me all the time!!
But I doubt it's going anywhere anytime soon. There's too many multi-million (probably billion) dollar chocolate companies out there who'd do everything in their power to ensure the stores are still stocked with chocolate bars. OR, could this mean that they would rely on artificial flavouring to create the same taste and keep the costs low....hmmm

I'd have to agree with Cathy on this one. Even though I technically can't eat chocolate due to my lactose intolerance, soy chocolate ice cream still manages to put me in a corner every other month. I'd be glad if I couldn't afford it!

I think I would become weighed in debt. Chocolate is a life-line for me--also cocoa powder is a major staple in my baked goods.
