14 year old Rachel Baier, from Wellesley, Mass., was finding it hard to concentrate with the time suck known as facebook being a constant presence so she made a deal with her father to quit for 5 months- for $200.

The best part is that they signed an agreement:

I'm impressed with this young lady's dedication! I don't know if I could quit Facebook for $200.... I think it would take more.

What about you? What do you think of this story and how much would you want to quit?

That is awesome!

I love the "plan to use the money for the following purposes: stuff." - Made me giggle.

I don't even think that I have enough dedication to quit Facebook!

haha.

I think it's smart of the Dad to put it in a contract. Seeing something in black and white makes it more real, even if it it's silly. Love the plan for using the money too. LOL!

Cute. This reminds me of all the written and signed official agreement letters I used to make whenever bro and me wanted something 'big' from our parents. We would promise to not demand anything else until X date if they give us whatever it is we wanted at that time. Now that I think about it I don't think we really stuck to them once we got our toy lol....

I've quit facebook for almost a year now I think. I couldn't concentrate on work/school with it there so I deactivated it.

This sounds like a darn good way to get a lot of us away from face book. I will admit that I am becoming addicted too. But the kids, if they are not texting their friends they are on Facebook typing and checking on who's doing what. This is a good link to get started again, a lot of you out there must have teenagers and probably need help in this department.
