I admire that he told the truth (if well after the fact). I don't think he should be fired because of having an affair per se; in his line of work, he has no reason to be upheld as a moral example. In fact, some juicy scandal can often be a publicity ploy. In any case, there are plenty of others in his office and elsewhere that have made mistakes - they just haven't been caught yet.
However, I think he's slimy for cheating on the woman he dated for 20 years and then finally married just last year. He should be fired for having affairs with coworkers, because that affects the work environment. I'm really disgusted by him, actually, and since I only watch the show when certain guests are on, I may tune out entirely.

don't sh*t where you eat (sorry for the curse)...
How do you think that work environment is nowadays? ummm AWKWARD.
I say let him stew and be uncomfortable...I am like mamaluv, just tuning in when certain guests are on but now I will just wait until they show up on Conan.

My bf and I subscribe to a podcast called Savage Love, where people call in with sex and relationship questions and thoughts and Dan Savage (the podcast's guru) replies with blunt and sometimes controversial opinions and answers.
Lol What this has to do with David Letterman is he touched upon this subject in his podcast. He went along the lines saying that this is so common. Whether you are in the public eye or not, monogamy is a rarity these days. Although I personally do not feel that cheating is condoned in any way, there are many reasons as to why people cheat. Men in power in the animal kingdom have multiple partners while maintaining a tight bond with one particular female. We are not as evolved as we thought.
I still have hope for all the monogamous relationships in the world and I feel that what Letterman did was wrong but he man'd up and came out with his actions.
And although most of us feel that he is old and gross, many women will go there with a man because of his money. They do it for the fame, the money, those 10 minutes where they feel relevant and hope to get a buck or two. Easy money.
How do we feel about Josh Duhmel, Ladies? It happens more often than we think.
