Through the internet I found a person who is starting up a "literary studio" (a publishing agency basically) and publishing book series electronically. They would be sold on e-readers for $2.00 max the commission is split evenly with the author and publisher. I don't know much about the people starting the company, but am interested in writing. The person who I emailed about it all to begin with wants me to send some samples of my stories, but I am a bit skeptical. I can't tell if the whole thing seems like a hoax jut to get peoples writing or what! The emails the person sends are slight unprofessional and I want to keep my identity safe (I am already emailing the person under a code name). It would be neat to get my books published and fun to make a bit of pocket money, but I need advice. Should I pursue this opportunity? I just don't know what to do! I am handing this one out to all my chic advisor's here. Please help me ladies. I am SO confused with what to do!!!!

Look up online about this person....see if you can find their profile on linkedin.
|I think this one is a no-go on Aug 15, 2011 @ 09:50 pm|
I don't trust anything that seems too good to be true. What do you know about this company and this man you've talking to?
Also- unprofessional emails are a huge redflag in my book. Are you putting up any money for this as well? Any publishing service that asks you to pay- isn't legit.
If you don't sell any books are you on the hook for any costs? If you are an aspiring writer, I think you need to really think aout how to do this realistically.
Are you in school for writing? Are you taking any other classes? Then once you get some education, think about doing internships and moving on from there. Don't rush into a scam because you want something so bad! I am feeling for you and hope you find something good soon!
