Did you guys hear about the hackets that got into the files of Winners and CIBC customers? Makes you wonder what you can do nowadays to protect yourself from identity theft. I guess protecting your PIN when you enter it somewhere (store, gas pump etc) is a start. However shouldn't companies have tougher safeguards so hackers can't get in and steal all your information!

I was reading about that in the paper the other day...it's really scary!
What made me more mad was reading that people who had gone shopping at Winners were not even told that their information might have been stolen for at least a month! That's so ridiculous, people have a right to know when their personal information might be at risk!
A few months ago, my mom got a call from her bank saying that someone had tried to withdraw $800 from her account! It's so scary, you can't trust anyone these days. Thankfully the bank noticed that something was weird and canceled her debit card. Yay TD!

Well at least TD is on top of things...better that then your mom having to try and sort out where all her money went after the fact because it always takes awhile to get that stuff rectified which is a pain in the butt...especially since it is not your fault that someone targeted you in the first place! SHEESH!
