John Galliano was fired from prestige fashion house, Christian Dior after making some very offensive and racial remarks a few days back. This is disputadely why Natalie Portman chose to wear Rodarte, rather than Dior during the Oscars (even after being in contract with Dior). Read full article here
bravo to Dior.. on Mar 01, 2011 @ 07:10 pm

Is it just me or is everyone flipping out lately....Galliano? Sheen?

It's sad to see a talented person lose their job but it's deserved.
A little bitter sweet on Mar 02, 2011 @ 10:25 am
I agree, it's sad. But I'm really glad Dior gave him the boot and made it known that they wouldn't tolerate that kind of behaviour from anyone - regardless of talent.
I had no idea Natalie Portman did that, bravo! Just another reason to love her!
Saw this on the news on Mar 02, 2011 @ 11:07 am
I saw this on the news yesterday and felt really proud of Natalie P for sticking up for her beliefs! All the more reason to love her :-)
And I applaud Dior for kicking Galliano to the curb. That sent a powerful message to the rest of the talented people, aspiring talents and customers alike. No matter how talented or how important you (think you) are, you're never above laws that regular people abide by. Sometimes it seems like the rich and famous can get away with murder, I love Dior all the more that they've shown that at least for them, it's not true.

I'm so disappointed by what Galliano did. Dior really didn't have a choice about firing him. Of course morals played a factor, but they also would have lost a lot of business if they kept him on - so I'm not surprised by their decision at all.
Galliano's personal collection is still holding their runway show on Friday, so I'm interested to see who (or if anyone) shows up.
I'm eager to hear who will replace him at Dior too!
John Galliano Fined! on Sep 08, 2011 @ 01:32 pm
John Galliano was found guilty of racism and was fined $24,000 for his racial slurs. He did escape jail time though- perhaps because he had admitted to drug and alcohol abuse?
What do you think of this story- is the amount too much/little? Do you think we should impose a similar outlaw on racism in Canada?
Definitely!! on Sep 12, 2011 @ 06:01 pm
I think it's fantastic and we should without a question outlaw racism and impose fines!
