As a huge fan of Douglas Coupland's work, I was extremely excited months ago when I first heard JPod was going to be a series on the CBC starting in January.
The first episode was last week and I must say it certainly didn't disappoint. In fact, just from me and a coworker talking about it before it aired, half the office managed to catch it and it has become our new "water cooler" series to watch!
Did any of you catch the first episode? What do you think?
And for those of you who didn't - it's on Tuesday nights.

How did I not heard about this?
Coupland (along with Palahniuk) is my favourite author! I've read a ton of his books so far (actually, I think Jpod and his new one are the only ones I've yet to read).
I'm definitely going to have to check this out. :)

Just picked up the book last night! Can't wait to start reading it. :)

Can't believe I missed this post earlier! I read the book a little while back and then I heard it was being made into a series, I was so excited too! It's hilarious! I love it and haven't missed an episode yet.

So it appears the CBC has decided to end Jpod after season 1. Boo. I am working ona big email to CBC customer relations about that one. We need for smart, funny, CANADIAN shows!

Well that's sad to hear. I'm really enjoying the show! Hopefully they'll be able to wrap up the rest of the story from the book in this season though.
I really would love to see more though.

WHAT!!!??? This is another typical example of CBC's poor ability to promote their shows . I've seen this happen in the past with other shows. For instance I happened to stumble on a show while flipping channels and it happened to the the season premier. I looked it up after and was surprised that I heard NOTHING about this show previous to it airing. No commercials, no advertisements, nada. It developed a small fan following but was cancelled after season one.

I've gotta admit... I'm a big Coupland fan, but I HATED JPod! (the book-- I've never seen an episode of the show... mostly because I wasn't a fan of the book, which makes sense, eh?)
I think it's owing to the fact that I'm not a fan of the author getting personally involved in their books.
But it does suck that it got cancelled.
Hopefully with the next promising Canadian show that comes along... it'll get held on to.
