I have an issue with this word; and the way it's spelled. Anyways for a while now it seems every time I reach for certain things like sour cream cottage cheese etc. all I see is LITE and really have to dig for what I want. I realize there are people that require lite for different reasons or taste, but lite seems to be foremost in the stores.I hate it.

I guess it depends where you shop at the store I work at we have a large selection of regular or lite so it is easy to pick out which product the shopper prefers.

Interesting, though I think it is more marketing than anything.

'Lite' products don't bother me. I tend to choose lower fat milk, yogurts and sour cream. To me, I prefer the taste and cutting out the extra unnecessary fats from my diet. My kid safety generally get the dairy with higher fat content though and they need that at this stage of their lives. However, when u am looking for the rug last product, I have never had a problem finding it.

The real problem with 'lite' products is the lying. In the US they did a big study that found that light/lite/lowfat products were completely lying about what was in them because it was not regulated enough. Often they are also packed full of sugar to make the taste better too!
That being said, I usually prefer the 'lite' taste because I'm a supertaster (too many tastebuds) and it's less overwhelming! I love the super light margarine, the less like butter, the better. ^_^
