These tragic events are really difficult to wrap one's mind around. I feel angry and distraught for the families and people going through this. At the same time, I have lots of questions that go unanswered, much of them concerned with the way the media has chosen to report this to us and whether or not we can believe everything that they tell us.
Yes, this incident happened in Paris and we should take the time to pay respects to the lives lost, but I believe we should also remember the lives that were also senselessly lost in other countries of the world for the exact same reasons. The media failed to mention any of those people (i.e., in Beirut, Lebanon, Palestine, etc...). Every life has value. We should be praying for the entire world, Paris and all other countries affected.

I have been following this horrific and tragic situation in the news. My heart and prayers go out to the families that lost their loved ones and also the victims that are in the hospital trying to recover after such a needless and violet attacks. Unfortunately this is not the first and will not be the last of these attacks occurring. What is truly scary is that it could happen anywhere or anytime. All we can do is pray that some form of a solution will happen to stop all this madness.
|So awful. on Nov 16, 2015 @ 10:27 am|
I was just in Pais and cannot believe this is happening. It was such a beautiful place, full of kind, helpful people. I always felt safe here. This is a truly awful incident. And, sadly this happens all over the world.
As for media coverage, it tends to be biased, but I do know people who live very near to this and so far, the media has been accurate in describing the events.
I think all countries that can spare troops and military resources should organize a strike. That may sound terrible, but this must stop. And that's the only way to stop these people. This can happen anywhere in the world and it shouldn't.

Unfortunately, nothing good has ever come out of war and hate and those who have committed these crimes come from an ideology that supports hatred towards the civilized nations of the world. How do we turn their hatred into acceptance and tolerance? We can't. They've become so fixated on retaliating against us. We do live in scary times and I pray that the leaders of the world have the good sense of knowing the right steps to take in protecting their people. As a people, we should keep practicing good, positive values towards one another in the hopes that one day, love, not bombs, will conquer hatred and abolish it. It takes one person to start and the next to continue.

As awful as war is, in some cases in order to prevent more innocent people from being slaughtered, it can be the only step left. There are smart ways to go about it, to minimize more civilian death. What if the world had turned a blind eye to what Hitler was doing? What sort of world would we be living in then?
Practicing love and peace is what each of us should do, love and peace generally perpetuates love and peace, but that's not enough. These people must be stopped. They're zealots and I'm not certain they can be 're-educated' and integrated into any sort of society. There comes a point where enough is enough and all countries must stand up to this.
