I came upon this today. The video is quite old but I just found it today. It's a video of people from this church that is protesting at the funerals of American soldiers holding up signs like "Thank God they are dead" and such. Fox news got this woman from the church to talk about it and she sounds absolutely insane. Watching this made me feel angry and disgusted that there are people out there as whack as her.
Watch it here and let me know what you guys think. What would you do if you ever come across a person like that? Would you try to argue back or just let it go and let her live her life with those beliefs?

We've been hearing about that in the US for a long time. While I understand the pacifist stance behind the protest, it's such a hurtful way to do it. Sure grabs headlines though, and I'm guessing that's the main point!

They sure do grab headlines but being the media will always make them look really really bad. If they want more supporters, is that really a good way to get them? That will turn a lot of people away. On the other hand, any notice is better than none I guess.

I guess the publicity stirred up the debate anew. So from that side of things, it worked. However, I think the vast majority of people were very angered, so instead of bringing the other pacifists (the "nicer" ones) into the debate, it probably scared them off and inflamed those who believe a military solution IS the best one.
There are a lot of sensible people who walk the fine line of not approving of war but still support those serving in the military and their families. Much as the western world might not want to admit, having the US as a strong military ally probably keeps us all safer... even if you don't agree with the principle.
