Buying less on Jun 13, 2014 @ 04:17 pm
Some things more than others are really expensive. Gas and beef prices are the ouches right now. Especially since we buy locally raised, hormone free, ethical beef. Overall, I think we are just buying less. I just started to be more vigilent about my buying patterns - . Especially since we are working less to have more free time.

I am definitely walking more since gas went up. I've actually started eating rice more too, instead of potatoes....lol
Price Comparison Shopping on Jun 14, 2014 @ 08:41 pm
I read through all the groceries flyers and mark out items we need, then I shop at Walmart and lower price comparison everything. I believe I save about $50 a week doing this.

I used to have a group of people that would split things. ie, we would buy in bulk and 4 or 5 of use would then share the items and pay accordingly. It worked really well. Must get another group together and see if we can get that going again. Also I have a lot of containers that seal well, so when my cereeal is on sale I buy the larges box (check the price per unit cause sometimes bigger is not better price wise.)
We also text each other when we see a real good instore bargain and then p/u for the other person,m saving time, money and gas.

My family's wallet has taken a hit as well. To compensate, I now shop around at different places for better prices even though it's a tad more time consuming. I also take part in SnapSaves and Checkout 51, which allow you to earn cash back on certain items. Every bit of saving makes a difference and eventually goes a long way. :)

To be honest with you if I see an item that I usually buy weekly in my groceries and the price is gone up,I mean not a couple of cents but 30 or 40 cents,I will not buy it.No matter how bad I want it,I will not purchase it.It's the principal of the matter,it is not right for the consumer to pay the price every time a store or Supermarket decides to increase the prices on products. There should be a law against this sort of thing happening or a limit.I blame everything like this on our governments and it's about time we all take a stand.I think Katieg has a good idea about shopping.
Don't blame the stores on Jun 16, 2014 @ 10:38 am
Anglewings, every time some one gets a raise (as a unit), or fuel prices go up, or there is a natural disaster which affects crops, prices go up. It is a Domino effect, don't blame the stores, they are paying more too.

I've been doing a lot more coupon clipping, and ordering coupons online, and price matching. I watch the flyers, and stock up when something I like and use often is on for a good deal.
