I've tried almost every single kind, and the only one that seems to work for me is the Nuva Ring, but there's some side-effects that I'm not too fond of...
Anyway, I was wondering what everyone's birth control of choice is here?
I'm pretty much running out of options :(, any opinions/complaints/suggestions?

Birth control isn't for everyone, I used birth control at age 17 to
regulate my periods. But when i started to gain weight, and started to
have bad mood swings, and became extremely sensitive....I new i had to
get off of it. I tried others but things just got worse.
I am now 32, and i have not used birth control since age 21. I
personally wouldn't go back to birth control, like you said, it does
give you side affects. I think most BC pills do. They also have health
risks....like blood clots.
What type of side effects does "the ring" have?
Just started myself on May 14, 2010 @ 05:09 pm
I just started taking the pill a few months ago. I'm on Yaz and it's been going fine. The first month was a little awful and I had my period for like 2 weeks to adjust to it. Since then my periods are lighter and shorter. I did also have insomnia for a bit when I started but I'm unsure if it was due to the pill because there were other things in my life that coincided with that. Other than that, I've had no problems. But I also take it at pretty much the same time everyday. A lot of problems occur because girls will forget to take their pill and I haven't so that might be another reason why I don't have any problems.
Different pills react to everyone different. If one doesn't suit you well they'll put you on a different one.

Well I hope you're protected in other ways then if you're not on a birth control!
You're right though, I've been on birth control since I was 14 and none have made me completely satisfied. :(
Well, the point of the Nuva Ring is to thicken all the mucus inside you so the sperm cannot swim up (If I'm not mistaken?), anyways, but as you can imagine, it makes my discharge very heavy :( I have to wear a pantiliner some days it gets so bad.
That's great that it's working so well for you!
I would defintely prefer the pill as well, but due to my ADHD and other things, I can never remember to take my pills at the same time, which isn't very safe lol

I'm on OrthoEvra, the patch. For me it has been amazing..4 years and not pregnant!
The only thing about Evra, I'm sure I get more hormones than necessary since they work for people up to 200lbs, and I'm no where near. That aside, you slap it on once a week and you go about life. It really is amazing!

I tried that but my skin reacts to it! I get a rash lol
Thanks for the suggestion though :)
Tri- Cyclen Lo on Jun 14, 2010 @ 02:56 pm
i've been using Tri-Cyclen Lo and have no problems, although with any BC there are risks that come with it. smoking while on BC is a big no-no as i'm told every time i go to the clinic to get more, so if u smoke u should try and quit or don't go on the pill. i've not really noticed any problems being on this type of pill, but every woman is different so... but i will say that not getting ur period from taking other types of pills is not a good sign, by only having a few periods a year is not good for ur body.
Yasmin on Jun 14, 2010 @ 08:25 pm
I was on Yasmin for about 6 months and would get crazy breakthrough bleeding,
I would be period free for the first week and then the bleeding would start, every time.
Now I'm on Alesse and its been great lighter periods that come on time...

Hey Christine :)
Yeah I'm not a cigarette smoker, and I can't use pills because I can never remember to take them at the same time every day (ADHD lol).
Sparkle, that's great!
The pill and Yaz on Jun 24, 2010 @ 08:21 am
I was on the pill from the age of 15 until I was 30. I didn't always take it at the same time of day and I never had any problems. I stopped the pill after my last son was born because I was 30 by then, I smoke and I was beginning to worry about being on it for so many years. I only took a brake when I had my two boy's. So after my last son was born I got my tubs... I can't remember the right name for it, but they pretty much just burned them shout.
