Everyone has a different gifting preference, and it would come down to your budget also.
For practical types, you might consider that high end cordless drill he's been wanting (and needing) but otherwise didn't want to splurge on.
For adventurous types, look into cool experiences in your area - skydiving, ziplining, fishing daytrips.
For the kid-at-heart, get him a souped-up remote control helicopter, ride-alongs with Nascar driver, etc.
For someone who likes chilling at home with a book or is a music nerd, look into getting a rare edition of his favourite author/artist.
If you have a little extra cash to spend, you might even consider sponsoring a weekend getaway for him and his best buddy (shows that you want him to maintain his guy friendships, not that you expect him to be only with you 24/7). Or maybe look into getting a dirt bike/jet ski/other small motorized vehicle?
Let us know what you end up choosing! I'm sure there are lots of women looking for good gift ideas for all sorts of occasions.

I gave my husband a watch as a wedding present. He doesn't wear jewellery that much but when we go out he likes to wear a silver bracelet or a watch. I found one that was unique and memorable. This was before everyone told time with their cell phones.

A piece of jewellery is always nice. My hubby got me a watch. I have spoken to others who have just recently got married and one got a pair of earrings to wear with her wedding gown. Another got a necklace, closer to being a choker style. A cellphone case. Even an ipad or a kobo reader are nice gifts. Hope this helps. Congratulations!

My apologies, as I assumed the gift you were looking for was for a female. Here are some thoughts for your husband to be. I still agree with a watch. Another idea is one of those high tech watches that you can look at your email, use as a phone, checks your heartbeat, tells the time, plays music, try texting with it, play games and so much more. It is so affordable now for as low as $49.99. Does he like sports? How about his favourite team tshirts. Does he watch Holmes on Homes? Go online to their website and order a baseball cap, T-shirt or whatever else he likes to wear. Accessories for fishing, camping, caving, snorkelling gear etc. How about an IPad or iPhone. If he reads, try buying a book in the series he is currently reading or a kobo reader for your honeymoon, that way he can load up on a few books to read without all the weight of a few books. Read on the plane ride, or lounging at the beach. Hope this gives you some ideas. Congratulation.

Traditionally it used to always be something that one would keep for the rest of their lives. Watch, cuff links, necklace (if the wear that sort of thing). Now it can be almost anything, it would depend on:
1. Your budget
2. His likes and dislikes
3. What he has been wanting for a long time etc.
Basically it should be something that has meaning to him, and you, something that will last for a long time and most important something that you can afford.
Good luck and have fun deciding and shopping.
