How are you ladies spending Valentines Day?

Whether you're single or a twosome, how are you spending your day ... evening ... night? :)

All my friends are in relationships and are busy with their man, so I'll be by myself... I will probably hit the malls with mom and watch a movie.

what about you? :-)

My boyfriend is taking me out to dinner tonight because we won't be in the city on Saturday. We're heading up to his family's cabin tomorrow night after work. We won't really be doing anything in particular to celebrate on Valentine's day...we'll just spend the weekend relaxing and enjoying each other's company. We'll read books, watch movies, go for walks, eat, drink, sleep in. I'm really looking forward to it :)

It's nice to be with someone on V-day but I've enjoyed myself when I've been single too. If your gal pals are busy, why not have a girl's night in by yourself? Rent some classic chick flicks like Sixteen Candles, Pretty Woman or P.S. I Love You and plant yourself on the couch with your favourite treat. My personal choice would be cookie dough :)

Wow, I'd love to be in your shoes! Sounds amazing! We haven't figured out what to do yet. Perhaps a romantic evening with our computers via candlelight? :P

Alex is a great cook, he'll probably woo me with one of his famous dishes and a nice bottle of wine :)

We're both in college so we don't have any money. I'm planning on making banana pancakes and watching movies all day with my hubby.

it seems all of you guys have amazing weekends planned!!! i'm so jelous but happy for u at the same time :-) oh well, i'd rather be with Mr Right than Mr right-now ... and my Mr right is yet to be met sooooo ....i'm trying to make the most of it... :-)

my single-girl-weekend is as follows:

Wake up early (so the day and long-weekend feels longer!) and go with mom to Fairview to get my eyebrows done (i'm soooo picky about who does my eyebrows! I have this amazing girl who does it for me at the Trade Secrets -Fairview mall. i've had them messed up one too many times to take a chance)

MAC is having a Hello Kitty event on Saturday and I have a "free Hello Kitty makeover with $50 purchase" scheduled for 1:30pm..... i'm sure i'll be able to find $50 to spend at MAC quite easily ;-) hehe i'm pretty sure that I'm going to get a new foundation (Studio Fluid NC42) and perhaps a hello kitty something or other if they impress me enough :-)

After this I'm going to try and convince my mother to go watch a movie with me (she hates sitting still...lol!). After that we'll probably go to a restaurant and eat dinner, come home and watch another movie :)

At night I'll finish at least one of my assignments... and read at least 2 chapters in preparation for my midterm (oh and also reimage/config dualboot on my netbook so I can use it for one of my classes properly).

Sunday, we'll go to Vaugnh Mills Mall (i just feel to go there for some reason!) and check out Guess, and Bebe, and all the other gorgeous gorgeous stores there :-)

I'll treat mom and cook dinner and watch a movie or something with her.. or maybe we'll pick up a game on the way home and play that instead.

At night I'll finish my other assignment and read for my midterm some more...

meanwhile i'm going to try and get my brother to go and return my 100$ worth of useless stuff at canada computers (useless because those are not what i need for my class! ggrrr....) and that way if he returns it for me i don't have to worry about doing it myself and scheduling it in myself :-)

On Monday if the weather permits and if i'm feeling very adventurous I might drive up to Montreal w/mom and hang there for the day and come back at night :-) we'll see how it goes...

oh and today i'm going for a girls night out!! so yippee :)

I'm single too! on Feb 13, 2009 @ 04:39 pm

I'm jealous of all those couples with romantic weekends planned too! I've been single way too long!

My plans are to go out to the pub tonight after work (alone) and have a pint and listen to the great live music (Russell Rocks Whelan's Gate every Friday night!). Saturday morning I usually go rock climbing at Joe Rockheads downtown (Soooo much fun! I highly recommend it as a great way to build muscle and tone up!). The only hick-up with the climbing is, that the two friends I usually climb with both have girl friends and therefore might be busy doing VD stuff! So I might be there alone too! Saturday afternoon, at this point, is open... maybe the mall, maybe Queen Street, maybe a movie, maybe a good book.... anything that I can do alone. Sunday I want to go for a walk (alone) and play with my new Digital SLR camera I got in a boxing day sale! My work doesn't give us this Monday off! So no long weekend for me!

Can you see the pattern here! :(

I have never really agreed with the whole Valentines Day mentality. (Why should there be a designated day to show that you care about someone). But having it shoved down your throat in every store window, adversitment and casual conversation, it starts to wear on a person, and remind ya just how single a girl can be!!!!

Hang in the Becky!

V-Day... is just any other day. on Feb 14, 2009 @ 05:25 pm

People take it waayy too seriously. And I find like many holidays in North America, it's become so commercialized. Don't get me wrong though... seeing couples together everywhere over the city doesn't make it easy for a single gal!

We won't be single forever, so enjoy it now. Savour the freedom. It's really that good :)

Hang in there ladies, I'm sure there's a man somewhere just around the corner... ;)

finally the day's over! lol ;-) on Feb 15, 2009 @ 07:19 pm

Patricia, you took the words outta my mouth girl :) well normally i don't really care that i'm single and what not.... but the whole valentines thing, which by the way i was never that enthusiastic about - because as Patricia says why should we have one day to show our love to our significant other? shouldn't this be happening everyday? And imo Vday has always been just another excuse for retailers to sell more pink and red stuff...! lol but it does wear thin when one is being reminded repeatedly how everyone else in the world (or so it seems!) is with someone and i have noooo one... sigh... oh well better with nobody and hopeful than with a loser and hopeless :)

artist > ur sooo right we're not going to be single forever (....i hope!) so enjoy and make the most of it now:) and i normally do....just the whole couple-couple thing going on in febuary just wears me down :-/

well single-girls this year you're *alone* but hopefully this time next year you'll be enjoying it with some sweet hunk and be thinking back to this thread and smiling :)

i wish i could say the same for me but i truly have SUCH bad luck with guys that its now a standing joke among my friends! If a guy likes me then better watch out cuz he's probably a closet psycho! :-P the only poetic justice that can come out of all of my experience is if I write a book and get famous and fabulously rich over it lol ;-) then they'll be sorry *muhuhahaha* lol
