How did you meet?

on Feb 11, 2011 @ 01:07 pm

I remember hearing not too long ago that almost 1 in four couples met on the internet (don't quote me on that). Since then I've met quite a few people who say they or someone they know has started a somewhat serious relationship with someone they met online.
So I'm curious, have any of you met someone special online? Or maybe started a friendship? Or even a fling?

It seems that more and more people are turning to the Internet for love lately. I've never tried it but I know a couple people who have. I actually went to a wedding last summer of a couple that met on the Internet (he's from Italy, she's Canadian) and they are really happy together. It's neat to think that they would never have met if it wasn't for the Internet.

One of my bff met her husband online. She's from Canada, he's from Texas. They were just chatting randomly on one of those generic chatting sites and clicked. Long story short, they're happily married, have two beautiful babies together and another one on the way. Whenever I used to feel down, I would call her just to talk to her, because she is SO HAPPY with her life, just hearing the happiness and contentment in her voice would lift my spirits and make me feel better.

My husband and I didn't technically meet online / phone, but we got to know e/other much better because of it, so not sure if that counts :-)

It is pretty mind boggling to think that so many people would not have found the happiness and love they have today if not for cyberspace.

I have a few friends now who met their boyfriends/husbands on dating sites. I just met someone else who met their girlfriend ... wait for it... on facebook! I love hearing the "how we met stories"

We didn't meet on line on Feb 14, 2011 @ 09:45 am

I don't know anyone that has met on line.
I met my husband the old fashion way through friends.
About two weeks after we met he took me to his sisters.
While I was sitting in her living room I noticed her children’s school pics on the wall and thought I was seeing thing.
It turned out that I went to public school with all of his sister’s kids and one of his brother’s kids. He was the second last born out of seven of them so this sister and brother are a lot older than he is, but they all grow up right around the corner from my childhood home.
I had never met him back in those days, but I remember the girl’s talking about how great they're uncle mouse was back then. Talk about a small world.
When I see any of the girl's now we all still laugh about how I ended up with they're uncle mouse.
