Can you remember making your first cake etc, who taught you if anyone, how old were you,and what was it? I was 12 when my auntie showed me how to make a chocolate loaf and orange bread.

Probably not, but did any of you ever go to a one room school with all grades being taught by the same teacher? I actually did and yes, i walked there too.

My mom let me help her as long as I can remember. Same with my grandma. I love to bake. I find it very relaxing.

Regular sponge from my mum's old fashioned cookbooks with butter icing. Thanks mum!

My mom and grandmother were a big influence. I've loved baking since as long as I can remember because of them and now I carry on the recipes my grandmother can't find the strength to do anymore.

As for your one room school comment, I know one similar school still existed in Quebec up to 10 years ago. I've never seen it but I know colleagues who did their internship there. It makes me think of Anne of Green Gables, one of my favorite stories ever.
