to go or not to go (on vacation)

on Apr 13, 2010 @ 04:44 pm

I am getting ready to make reservations to leave for a one-month trip to the Carribbean in June of this year.  I phoned my partner to tell him about it and he is not happy.  It is the first time that I felt the need to notify him beforehand.  I don't know what's happening.  I seem to be having a bad premonition.  According to you, what should I do? Leave or stay?  It's been 7 months since my last vacation but I feel I need another one soon.  There is something nagging at me but I don't know what it is. Should I leave or should I stay?  What would you do?  Need an answer soon before making my reservations.  Thanks!

more details? on Apr 13, 2010 @ 10:45 pm

It's hard to tell from your post if you are uneasy about the trip itself and are having a strange premonition, or if you're just ticked off at your boyfriend for being a party pooper? Perhaps a few more details will help us offer better advice...

Don't force it on Apr 15, 2010 @ 01:23 pm

I can't speak to the premonition part, but in general my rule of thumb is: Don't force it. Whether it's buying a pair of shoes I'm not 100% in love with or something more substantial, I've learned that going into something half-hearted often leads to half-hearted results. In other words, I usually don't grow to love something I bought if I had to convince myself to buy it.

You could go on your vacation and everything could be great, or you could both go and be in a bad mood. If you need a break, you could always schedule a mini weekend getaway now and do something in a couple of weeks when the timing is better for both of you.
