What do you think about a review addendum feature? I know myself, and likely others, may write a review (unknowingly) prematurely. That is, one might write a review after a single use of the product, or maybe the 2 week product review club window isn't enough to get the true feel for a product. I would love to see a review feature where the original reviewer may post an "addendum" if, after some time, their original opinions have adjusted somewhat.

Good idea spotty! I could really use this feature on some of my previous reviews.

Hmmm... on Nov 09, 2007 @ 07:00 pm
This is a good idea - in theory. The only problem with that is it would royally screw up the ratings. Underneath everything there is a really complex algorithm that calculates rank based on the # of stars and how recent the reviews are, etc. If a person changed their review later that would be really problematic.
The other issues is it could put people in a situation of contradicting themselves. Most review sites don't allow this but i do think it is a good suggestion nonetheless. Something to think about at least.

Yeah, that's fair. I guess I wasn't thinking of "re-doing" the review, per se, but rather just an additional text feature where a product user may clarify a later finding or opinion. I guess that can be viewed as contradictory, but I rather see it as further enriching the review and the site as a whole. A first impression may not turn into a comprehensive impression.

Cutting Edge Feature - WoW !!! on Nov 10, 2007 @ 12:41 pm
If there were any way you could incorporate Spotty's suggestion, I'd go for it !
I agree with it in theory, and if you only did it as an additional comment; would it work then?? No stars, just text.
Often times we still have the "glow" when we write a review, and then for whatever reason, have a different, more experienced opinion we might want to share.
IMHO - that might be a feature worthy of a review - hint, hint - and may give you an advantaged web presence since "other" sites don't offer it ;-)
Great point, Spotty and Scents on Nov 10, 2007 @ 04:59 pm
That is actually a really fantastic idea... just a little note that tags on the bottom. Hmmm, I guess we'll see.
Agreed! on Nov 10, 2007 @ 06:41 pm
Yeah, there are many times I want to go back to my old reviews, either due to changed opinion or simply wanted to say more. I think the readers are more interested in reading more about the product and what people thought of it, and the rating is less important than the actual description. I find when I give the stars, sometimes I'm harsh but sometimes I'm easy, number of stars often depends on my mood. :P So I think just being able to add to our old review is good enough!! :D

Go to any review that you have done and you will see (when logged in) an icon at the end of your review that you can click on and update your review. yay! Try it out and let us know what you think!
question on Mar 15, 2008 @ 08:08 pm
I just wanted to ask, is it ok if we just "update" the review to add a picture? I have a couple reviews for things I didn't have pictures of at the time but I have pictures now. I know pictures make reviews more fun. For me anyway. I like seeing what things look like. lol
