I have two senior cats,Molly and Jake, age 15yrs old.Jake is pretty healthy and so is Molly except for the Arthritis in her back leg.She is on medication for that, apart from being the love of my life, there is nothing I wouldn't do for them.My Hubby said we should think about getting a small puppy. My Babies are very territorial and they have the run of the house, not to mention my Bed,the chesterfield and my Husbands favorite chair. They are rescue Cats and I have them ever since they were 8weeks old.My opinion is we should wait a few years on the puppy and give all our love to our Babies, what do you think Chicks?

I don't have any pets. I would wait a few years sounds like you have your hands full at the moment!

Sounds similar to my situation. I have 2 cats, a mom and her son. The mom was a pregnant stray we took in years ago. They are territorial, and the mom can get very insecure due to her past as she was abandoned. My hubby would love a dog but I can't see it happening. I agree, I think if I were you I'd also wait.

I think your right to want to wait especially considering your fur babies are older and they might really be bothered by a hyper little puppy. I have a cat as well and if I thought he would be bothered at all by another animal I wouldn't get one but that's just my opinion and I'm sure you will reach a conclusion that fits your situation.

I would definitely wait if there's any chance your cats could get very stressed. Health problems can quickly develop when they're stressed, but it really depends, you know your kitties best!

If they don't like other animals, a puppy would definitely cause stress.

Alternatively, you can look at rescues for dogs who are through the puppy stage and ready to be adults in their new homes - even a pup from a cat friendly home might be a good bet too. This might lead to less annoyances to your cats.

I have two cats and my daughter wants a dog, but one of my cats is old and I'm scared she would be too stressed so I have decided to hold off on getting a dog

A puppy doesn't know how old your cats are and will do nothing but bug them wanting to play. I'm sure your cats wouldn't want anything to do with the pup and if they have their claws that could also be bad new for the pup. I say let your cats live out their life in peace, than take another look at getting a pup. They're a lot of work and not something to take lightly. Hope this helps and good luck!
