My most recent vacation was to Montego Bay in Jamaica!
I was a bridesmaid at a wedding! The resort we stayed at was the Grand Palladium! Let me tell you, this resort is grand! A real 5 star! Although for the price we paid, I'd expect nothing less!
I was disappointed in the beach! I'm a huge beach person and the actual size of the beach didn't go along with the size of the property! The sand was really rough and grainy and the water had little dime sized jelly fish that freaked me out! I'm not usually a regular at pool swim-up bars, but on this vacation, I lived in the pool! The main pool is a huge infinity one! The villas also have smaller, more private pools if that's more your thing!
They have 9 a la carte restaurants, opened according to how many guests are at the resort! When we went, the resort wasn't overly crowded (and I imagine it'd be hard to fill it up completely since it's so massive!) so the restaurants opened on alternate dates! So if you're there for a week, you can always try them all! The food is by far the best I've had down south! Something for everyone!
A few friends thought this resort was a bit pricey and stayed elsewhere, but were allowed to purchase a day pass to attend the wedding! I believe it was $65 for the day! So that's an option for brides and their guests!
The wedding went off great despite the pastor being about 20 minutes late due to traffic! The resort is so beautiful it offers plenty of great places to take pics!
The drinks were great and there are plenty to chose from! The disco opened nightly from 11pm to 2am! Prior to that, we would go to the outdoor jazz bar that had big comfy chairs and live music every night! The shows are pretty great too, but I didn't watch many since I'm not a huge fan!
They do have an awesome 24 hr snack bar that offers a ton of great food and was always a welcome after dancing up a storm!
I found this resort to be very safe and the staff is super helpful and nice! I misplaced my room key twice and they didn't give me a hassle at all!
They do also have an awesome spa! It's so big and relaxing, you'll love it! Warning to brides and bridesmaids though... if you get your hair done, a simple do will run you anywhere from $60-100!
The rooms are big and fantastic! The showers are huge and most room come with a jacuzzi tub!
I have nothing but great things to say about this place! I highly recommend it!
Here's a link to the resort!

We have stayed at this resort twice. This resort has 3 hotels, all sharing one large private beach. The resorts are as follows, starting from cheapest to most expensive: Beach, Suites, The Grand.
The first time we went we stayed at the Beach. It was my first time doing a trip like this so we were both quite happy - with the exception of the smell of cigarettes from the lobby (they allowed smoking in the evenings). The beach portion for this is the most populated because there is the most going on there. Lots of beach vball games, etc.
The 2nd time we stayed at the Suites. The hotel is nicer and in better condition, without the horrible cigarette smell. The beach portion for suites is nicer too. I would definitely recommend this one over the beach.
Overall we've had a nice time there but probably won't go back. Nothing wrong with it but we like to try new places.

My family and I rented an apartment in Negril and it was amazing! It's backyard was the beach and the sand was pure white. We also rented a car and traveled from Negril to Kingston (although there is a lot of crime/corruption there; we got robbed). All in all, it was awesome! We were also there for the crab walk. A great experience!
|I <3 Montego Bay! on Jun 03, 2012 @ 08:55 pm|
I freaking love Montego Bay. Well, all of Jamaica to be honest.
Whenever I travel to places, I like to live with the locals. I always do TONS of research first, to make sure that I'll be residing in a place that is safe, of course.
But, that hotel looks incredible! I love infinity pools.
I might have to try out this "all inclusive" thing that everyone keeps mentioning sometime!
