Love it! on Mar 09, 2012 @ 11:37 am
I also really love the show! AND can't wait for season 2!
I do not read the books, but now is a good time to start if you want! If you live in or close to Toronto the author is doing a book signing this Tuesday at the Bay/Bloor Indigo store! You could start with a signed edition ;)
My husband reads them and he LOVES the books.
Haven't Watched Yet on Mar 09, 2012 @ 12:01 pm
I haven't read/watched any of these yet but I am so curious, I hear such good things about it!
Let me know if I should start watching/reading and does anyone know how books compare with show? Which should I start with?

Start with the books! Its a heavy read... and the first book is ONLY the tip of the ice berg. Even for the show, there are so many more characters and story lines for the next couple seasons and it's very well written.
Now is a good time to start also because most of the series is already out. When they were first released, fans were dieing with anticipation since the author is a slow writer. He never anticipated such a huge following, it was hard to keep up for them. Now all four books are out and as I understand it, there are more to come.
If you are more of a light reader, then watch the show! The show follows the book accurately, they kept the integrity of the story alive.

Yes!! Have all the books in this series that are currently out!!
Havent seen the series yet. The books are excellent until you get to book 5 A Dance With Dragons, the story gets a little dry but the ending leaves you begging for more!

For anyone that hasn't I highly recommend watching the showing AND reading the books, especially the books, they are so good! I've read the first four books and am re-reading them again before I start the fifth. There are some parts than can get a bit dry, but others pull you in so much that you just cant put them down.
really that good? on Mar 26, 2012 @ 05:48 pm
Are the books really that good? I was just saying today how I wish I could find something to replace the HPBs. Is this it? What's the story about?
