I don't really watch the awards shows themselves - 3 hours of speeches is not my idea of a fun time - but I do enjoy the red carpet and of course finding out who won. Many of my favourite shows and actors got their due this year.

MOVIE - DRAMA

Winner: 12 Years a Slave
Nominees: 12 Years a Slave; Captain Phillips; Gravity; Philomena; Rush

DIRECTOR

So excited about Gravity's win here. I almost didn't see this movie. We were going in for another film but was sold out. The ticket agent said Gravity sucked. SO WRONG.

Didn't see Blue Jasmine but very excited to see Cate win. LOVE HER. Ditto for Amy - didn't see the movie but am a big fan. J.Law is so uber popular right now that I don't want to like her... but can't help it. She's adorable.

TV - DRAMA SERIES

Winner: Breaking Bad
Nominees: Breaking Bad; Downton Abbey; The Good Wife; House of Cards; Masters of Sex

I'd yawn about Breaking Bad winning AGAIN, but it's so. freakin. good. House of Cards also superbly acted.

Can't agree more with all of these wins. Who's with me?

Then there are the other awards, like Screenplay and Mini-series, but I just don't get excited about that stuff. I was happy to see Frozen get the win for Animated Film.

What did you guys think of the awards?

Dying to see 12 Years a Slave - I've heard so many good things!

I didn't watch the awards too closely but just had it on in the background while cooking. But the awards aside, it looked like a fun party and I was digging everyone's attire!
